Star Trek book covers like you've never seen them...

Super Pyjama Desert Party sounds like a Tom Robbins novel - or a mediocre 80's teen pop band.

Keith will be here shortly, so let me say that he needs to write Worf vs. the Pretty Flowers ASAP. I want to read this, dangit!

A good way to test your geek quotient is to see if you can remember the real titles based on the cover art and author names.

Fans of fantasy novels will probably also get a kick out of the three entries linked in the third line of the post.

Am I shallow for being disappointed that none of my covers were spoofed?

Ah, well, thanks to The Mollmann, I still have these:

Hilarious. I needed a good laugh today.

This would make a good April Fool's Day Joke as a marketing strategy..

Wonder if we should bring back the four authors write a novel idea..

Years ago, somebody did one up where they put Rand's and Uhura's heads on some rather picturesque beauties for a Boris Vallejo-style cover like many done in the early-mid 80s for Trek books, titled Orion Slave Princess. I remember seeing it on AOL (I think). I just went looking and found a dead link, so it may be lost to the Internet aether.

And a few years back, the Trek Art forum had a contest to design faux Trek book covers, and one poster whose name escapes me created a handful of truly awesome covers like you might've seen on pulp fiction paperbacks during the 1960s. I've still got those saved somewhere, but I don't know who to credit.

I like Get Thee to a Space Nunnery. But you can't give How Much for Just the Planet? a funnier title than it already has.

I like Collectible Plate! :techman:

That's probably my favorite as well.

Awhile back KRAD posted a link in his live journal to someone who had done the same thing with science fiction books. I'm too busy at work to try to find it but it had some pretty funny stuff too.

Dune: "I should have stopped here"

Foundation, or some other Asimov book: "Scientists can do anything"

Those are by the same guy who did these, and there are links to them in the Trek covers post.

You're right, thanks. I didn't even see the links at the top. I saw a Star Trek cover and started scrolling down. I had the Dune quote wrong, his is better obviously. I forgot about "Characters Show Up". Man this guy is funny...

My favorite is Ice Bear! Holy Shit, Riker! Run Away From the Ice Bear! by Peter David. Honorable mention to Collectable Plate, Attack of the Tiny Werewolf, and Worf vs. the Pretty Flowers.
