Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

That's just reboot Trek being true to it's roots - check out Captain Robau's vanishing insignia on the mirrored shot of him sitting down at the very start of Star Trek (2009) ;)

I don't think that shot is mirrored, I think they just forgot to put his delta on when filming. The chair is the right way 'round, the guy beside him has a delta on, and Faran's cheek scar is on the correct side.

Karl Urban: "Yeah, that would be great. I love when he reappears, and he's got this huge beard and this big medallion around his chest -- and his chest hair! I love that! I actually put a nod to that in Star Trek Beyond. You'll see at the end of the film, I'm wearing an open shirt, and I've got a medallion on. Like, not a big one, but it's there, and it's a direct nod to DeForest [Kelley]".

Wow. Fantastic, Urban! It is a great tribute.
So, the scene with Bones, Kirk and Spock looking at something, that may be the new Enterprise, this scene is the end of the film.

Being the 50th anniversary and all, I thought the reversals may have been an homage to how often that's been done in the past. ;) I was specifically thinking about my collection of General Mills cards that were on the back of cereal boxes as a promotion for TMP. Every bloody one of those cards was reversed. Single characters, group shot, it didn't matter. The pictures were flipped with the uniform insignia on the right side.

Also, what's the prevailing thought about Abramsverse? I have more enjoyment from Abramsverse because I know Prime continuity.
People here are generally supportive of the Abramsverse which eschews Prime canon in favor of a rebooted reality with the freedoms of creating a completely new story because Prime canon, as Daystrom put it, "simply got in the way." Prime canon is that ensign in M5's bug zapper. I've called bullshit on such restrictions of canon when you have a whole universe to play with, but here we are.

These posters will be worth a mint someday, I'd love to get them all, but got very little wall space for them, sigh...

I didn't consciously realize there was a connection, but looking at that scene I thought "maybe he needs to look like disco McCoy, with the beard and whatnot".

I wish Krall had more subtle makeup. It's a little difficult to see the actor. It's still a cool design, though.

The last two villains (Khan & Nero) looked kind of plain IMO, so the look of Krall is a nice change of pace. I bet Paramount wanted a more elaborate looking villain as well, since they want Trek to be like Guardians Of The Galaxy, which had very visually interesting antagonists.

I disagree.... Cumberbatch must have had a ton of make up to alter a Hispanic character with an Asian name to look n sound white/English lol
:lol::lol::lol:

Reverse images have been so common with Trek over the years. Gene's 'Lincoln Enterprises' company did a ton of that with 3x5 photos.

More recently, I had one of the prototypes of the commemorative laser-etched granite plaques and they had a reverse image of Kirk with the phaser rifle on that. But they also had Kirk's birthday mixed up with Leonard Nimoy's, didn't correctly spell 'Deneva', and had the whole thing in TNG font instead of TOS. Sigh....

Well, on the IMDB website, STB is up to 5th in popularity from 130-something just before the 2nd trailer came out.
