VI would be another cool one for them to give a nuTrek make over - just swap Chang for Krall and the little Klingons ships for whatever these new ones are (IDW redid VI with TNG for The Last Generation)
That helps the Swarm, somewhat, but this is just my reaction to the trailer as a whole. It doesn't give me a sense of the bad guys motives, their drive or anything like that. They are just bad.I think the big problem with Krall's character is we're still not sure what he's all about. There's the frontier pushing back line in the first teaser, but beyond that, little else. Does he reflect the general motivations of an entire people, or are they just personal ones? It does seem odd to put an actor like Elba behind all that makeup, too. I hope they didn't waste him.
I actually like the idea of the swarm after I heard Lin's reasoning behind it. In a December interview, he said:

While I'm normally not the cynic on a trailer because trailers are edited by a separate company, this is one aspect of the new trailer that was problematic for me. The Swarm feel very bad and that's it. Am I invested in them? No. Do I see their point? Again, no.I don't see that as a problem. I'd rather learn all these things when I see the movie, not from the trailers.

But stomping on them isn't nearly as much fun!I would like to see them face a race of aliens so powerful that it would be like humans stomping on an anthill.
Um, the Borg, at least from the outset. Not to open that can of worms, but originally, that was the Borg.I like the concept of the swarm. In all of Star Trek the enemies they face are within the realm of being beatable. Even if they were more powerful than the Ferdeation or the Enterprise crew it was not by much.

I don't see itSeems like it's getting the most views on Facebook. Last time I looked, it was 5 million or so.
There's also one from Slash from Guns and Roses. Nice to see Paramount pushing the 50 years.STar Trek Beyond: 50 in :50 series
From the new trailer, it's clear Beyond is continuing the action trend, but fans should be excited. The visuals are nothing short of stunning, and you can already tell the writing will be moving and enjoyable. Let's face it - the Enterprise has never looked this good.

I don't mind seeing more powerful aliens, and Lin's concept of them will be interesting to see. But, my point is, the trailer does little to inform me as to their capability other than mass destruction. Maybe that's interesting to others, but it isn't to me.
Notice the second and third have almost the same # of dislikes despite the later having nearly twice as many views--and the first has a disproportional amount. This tells me the same cluster of whiners are going around disliking every one. These are the three main sources I saw for the video: The collective favorable likes are 19.132 to 805 dislikes.
Any others? [..snip...]
