Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Probably a contemporary of the NX-class.
I believe so because NX01 and NX02 had warp 5.0 and Archer said that there were ships, in construction, with Warp 6.0. So, based upon the fact that Gamma Quadrant is very far from Earth, I believe that is a contemporary of the NX-class.

But, according to the non-canonStar Trek: Ships of the Line book, Columbia (NX02) crashed on a desert planet in the Gamma Quadrant, and remained there for two centuries. It was discovered, intact, several days following the events of "Children of Time", by Ezri Dax and the crew of the USS Aventine. So, Pegg could then build on it.

interesting comment regarding TSFS:
Pegg also confirmed that the new film won't follow the path set by Star Trek: The Search For Spock in continuing on from Star Trek Into Darkness. "There might be a little nod for fans perhaps, but it's certainly not something that the film depends on or has any relationship to the plot of the previous Star Trek III".

I sincerely doubt they'd use such an obscure backstory. Talk about complex fan theories! I also hope there's no connection between the Franklin and NX vessels. Please, no references to the worst series (and death-knell of the franchise) in the 50th anniversary tribute.

Like it or not, if there is anything connected to the past of the Federation or the formation of the Federation, the Enterprise series is in the Star Trek timeline

One of the questions he asked them was apparently '‘What kind of weapons does an NX vessel carry?’

I guess USS Franklin is more or less an NX vessel.
It's worth noting that we have seen a number of NX vessels in previous Trek iterations:

Thanks for link. Most interesting remark on Beyond is "There’s a retro kind of vibe to it". Hope for TOS fans? And with Fuller wanting a bolder and brighter Trek, we may be returning to those golden days of groovy threads and far-out vibes!

I wondering if at the end of Star Trek Beyond will we see the next Enterprise 1701 ready to depart setting up the fourth film and will it be the same design class as seen in the three J.J. films.
