Simon Pegg spoke to reporters at CinemaCon Monday night about the tone of Star Trek Beyond, how it will create its own stories and canon while still fitting into the franchise’s 50 year history, and how the story’s villain, played by Idris Elba, will be ostentatious and interesting. Pegg also noted that Beyond won’t be a rehash of Star Trek’s “greatest hits” moments but will instead focus on original story telling.

It's all people seem to be talking about after December's first look at STAR TREK BEYOND, especially after Monday night's no-show at Paramount's CinemaCon event: when is another trailer coming for this July's film?

Well, Steve Weintraub over at Collider found out this evening: it looks like Paramount is prepping a major fan event next month in Los Angeles - time and place yet to be announced - and that's where the launch of both the second BEYOND trailer, as well as the start of the main marketing push for July's upcoming film.

I'd rather watch ten minutes of motorcycle stunts and explosions than hear the line "Shields are down 40 percent" once, because the former would be more creative and intelligent.
Then what have you been doing watching Star Trek your whole life?

Bits like these make me confident that Beyond could be a pretty satisfying Trek film. I don't think anyone wants a "greatest hits" film right after Into Darkness

Is this fan event going to just a Beyond promotional thing, or a general 50th anniversary thing?
I've been kind of disapointed we haven't gotten more mainstream promotion of the 50th anniversary. I know Trek isn't as huge as it once was, but I still think the anniversary deserves a lot more recognition outside of the general fan base than it's gotten. They promoted the hell out of Dr. Who's 50th, and I would think in terms of overall history Trek would be an even bigger deal than DW, and I'm saying that as a DW fan as well as a Trek fan.

I think interesting this interview with Karl Urban. I understood that he is putting in doubt if Enterprise has been destroyed, a provocation. Am I right?
Can you transcribe what Karl said to Quentin about Enterprise?

Don't know yet. Here's what TrekMovie reported:
According to [Steven] Weintraub [of Collider]:

Weintraub said:
Paramount is saving a lot of the marketing for the movie, including the next trailer premiere, for a fan event being held in Los Angeles next month. While I’m not sure who will be in attendance at this time, I’ve confirmed with Paramount the event is happening and the details, including how to attend and which of the cast and filmmakers will be attending the event, will be revealed soon.

TrekMovie is trying to find out more about this event and we’ll bring you the details as soon as we get them.

A few fans have speculated and extrapolated JL's recent interview comments about deconstructing Star Trek to mean the Enterprise will be re-built as a potential finale.

Who knows.

its kind of weird to see one of the actors use the term reharsh ....still , an original story is very optimistic

Wait, what? People took his commentary on deconstructing the storytelling of prior Trek films and shows as a hint about actual construction of the Enterprise?

I... I just can't anymore. You've defeated me, internet. Well played.

Well in the TOS era it did seem the ships could be fixed from just about anything other than blasted to atoms or burnt up in an atmosphere.
