I could see that character as a re-imagined Jem'hadar, as Klingons have also been slightly redesigned for the JJVerse and don't look quite the same as they used to.

On the topic of makeup, I'm curious...has it been confirmed anywhere that Idris Elba's character is in fact the guy we see in the trailer during his voice over? I'd be surprised if they really did cover him up with makeup like that and the fact that it is simply a voice over (ie. the guy on screen isn't saying the words we hear) I'm betting his appearance will either be reserved for the movie itself or a later trailer. Could be a spoiler Lin refers to.

serious paramount is dropping the ball on promoting Beyond. We should've had at least another trailer and should be going on a third by now. Hell Into Darkness had 2 Teaser trailers and 2 Theatrical trailers.

I'm kind of disappointed that so far the bad guys are ugly aliens (Darth Maul syndrome) while the good guys (girl) are pretty. It's especially bad here since there are multiple alien types on the bad side.

That's kind of amusing, since the pretty alien woman who assists them essentially has Darth Maul patterns on her face in white and black instead of red and black. He has a ring of small horns too to complete the devilish look, but it's not that big a difference between them.

Another question: What kind of spoiler is on the shirt? A new Enterprise? Someone from the old cast? the Nimoy Spock in CGI?

"My parents were on the Enterprise when it crashed on planet Random VI, and all I got was this stupid t-shirt."

Yeah, Lin confirmed in an interview that the alien in the trailer is Elba's character Krall.

At this point I hope there are no more trailers. Just some music and text ads. Push the mystery...or not. Doesn't really matter. The movie will make gobs of money and 95%+ of posters here will be going to see it, even if there's no other trailer.
