I don't think we will have news about the Idris Elba character in the first trailer. They will hide him until just before the premiere. Maybe we see something about Sofia, probably Kirk, Spock and Co. and action scenes.
Where's your tinfoil hat? You're seeing conspiracies everywhere! It's almost as if the same guy were involved with both!
Technically, TNG had O'Brien and established his Irish background.Glad to be apart of the fandom
I, like you, am already a fan of Scotty. Closest thing to an Irishman we have on the show (apart from Riley lol), sad to say![]()
Scotty is great. But DS9 has Miles O'Brien. He's from Ireland.
Also, 60s era television was not ready for an Irishman on a scifi show. Some things had to wait until the 80s, like Blazing Saddles predicted.
Oh, and welcome![]()
Would 60s US television been able to differentiate between an Irishman and a Scotsman?
Sure, but both accents would likely be laid on with a shovel. Ethnic characterizations were not very subtle in those days, as a general rule.Technically, TNG had O'Brien and established his Irish background.Scotty is great. But DS9 has Miles O'Brien. He's from Ireland.

I seem to recall Harry Morgan having more than one or two roles which called for him to play a stereotypical Irishman.Even in the world of movies, Sean Connery played an Irishman in "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" in 1959.

He played one again in 1987, in "the Untouchables".Technically, TNG had O'Brien and established his Irish background.Scotty is great. But DS9 has Miles O'Brien. He's from Ireland.

Wasn't the Nemesis trailer attached to Clones?

Good.
This was posted on Reddit last night. Either the trailer will not be tied to IMAX showings of Star Wars, or it's a fake. I'm leading towards the former, it looks pretty real to me.
