Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

But the jacket is still happening right?

RIGHT?

Oh... Okay, sure.

Those jackets are just being tested on green screen before being shipped to Abrams for Star Wars.

That outfit is clearly Han Solo's daughters in the new film.

Don't be fooled!

Also, I would like to buy a jacket, please.

In all seriousness, here are my observations on the pictures (video was taken down by the time I got online):

-New uniforms are interesting. I like the ruggedness of them, but there is a lot going on with them but they feel heavy duty. The belt feels more practical too.

Glad to see a new alien who will be interacting more with the heroes. I like her look too.

Finally, Pine's hair. Seriously, that is some impressive hair.

Dang it, why won't YouTube play smoothly for me in fullscreen anymore? I hate "upgrades" that work worse than the old versions.

At least you saw it before Paramount blocked it. :(

The video seems to have been rendered as four animated gifs, here:

Maybe it was just the color, but I got an "Enterprise" vibe from the jackets. Looks like something Archer could've worn.
Wonder why Scotty isn't similarly dressed.

No, the ENT unis were more like overalls, baggier and less embellished.

This looks like a rehearsal, not actual filming, so Pegg might be changing into costume later. Or he might just be playing around on his downtime. He did say he cut down his part because he's so busy off-screen.

What exactly is Pine doing from :24 - :30?
Playing with something that's going to be added with cgi later maybe?

I'm guessing exotic foliage.

If you're using Firefox, it may be that. I had to switch away from Firefox because the latest build caused my Youtube and Vimeo videos to stutter and skip. I moved over to Chrome, where they play flawlessly.

Oh, don't tell me that. Not a big fan of Chrome, or of having to use two different browsers for different things.

Google owns YouTube now, right? Is this some kind of evil plot to make sure we're forced to use Google's browser?

It seems to happen on just about any site that uses HTML5 or Flash. The video is choppy, and stuttering. When I use either Chrome or the Microsoft Edge browser, I get smooth video. It's something with the way Mozilla's handling Flash and HTML5. A lot of people are complaining about it, from what I've seen. Of course, the developers of FF have been dead set against Flash for a while now, and that may be a part of it.

Yeah. It's definitely a Han Solo, space cowboy vibe. With the jacket, boots and undershirt style.

Looks cool. I also get a ENT jacket vibe as well.

I noticed the jackets have a strap going diagonally down the back, similar to the STII-VI uniforms (it's visible in the animated gifs).

Yeah. It's definitely a Han Solo, space cowboy vibe. With the jacket, boots and undershirt style.

Indeed, and I love it. I can't wait to see it all put together.

It's the strap-on holster that really makes it. Have we seen that in Trek before?

if this was done on purpose then I am not happy.

I'd call it more of a practicality than trying to cop everyone's favorite space pirate (unless you're into anime, then your favorite space pirate is probably Captain Scarlett).

Low set phaser holster with the leg strap to keep it from flapping away from the leg. And with the low set holster, a more natural reach for speed drawing a phaser, rather than having it at the waist.

Excellent Cool, overall! Loving the retro-ish hair. It is pleasing to these
Old TOS-Imprinted eyes. ;) ...the uniforms are reminiscent of "Enterprise", but not unpleasant to the eye. Not sure what Scotty was wearing. Leisure clothes? However, not a fan of the boots. But, each to their own. I am excited, but sad I will miss opening night. Though they filmed part of it here, I will be surprised if it shows here, and even if it does, it will be edited and unwatchable, due to the surreal and abysmal behavior in the movie theaters here, on the part of the locals. Wow, that was a long sentence, with lots of commas.

I'm getting "Star Lord" off of it, though I may just be thinking that because of the supposed requirement to make Beyond more like Guardians of the Galaxy. It doesn't look typically "Star Trek," but it does look good.

Not a fan of the new standard duty uniform. The collar is ugly and the darker side panels are....uh, well they look like armpit stains. They're neither dark enough nor broad enough (front-to-back) to read as anything other than discoloration of the fabric. The first two movies basically nailed the uniform, though, so there wasn't anywhere to go but down I guess.

^ Can we be honest for a second regarding the "duty uniform?"

Do we know really it's a duty uniform? It could be a slightly warmer uniform than normal that Scotty is wearing.
Can you really see that much detail on it? The uniform will look considerably different on a four story screen with an HD RED cam on it rather than a little phone spy cam. It's hard to pass judgment on something until you actually see it for what it is. Particularly at low rez.

Completely off-topic, just because I kind of brought them up on the last page... The crazies are out again. Here, The Fox (aka Fred Archer on Facebook or Jake as he was known until he was scared off by myself, Dennis and several others) suggests that a forthcoming untitled Judd Apatow movie set for a September 2016 release might actually be a Prime Star Trek movie.

Riiiiiiight.

The boots to me look like they are intended for a specialist function rather than being a standard part of that uniform.

Given the context of the scene, I'd expect this overcluttered blue and yellow thing to represent some kind of field jacket, while Scotty's still in the standard shipboard uniform.

I'm kind of wary about making any judgements on costumes and makeup yet. It's amazing how their looks can change once they're on screen.

I mean, the right combination of lighting and lens can turn green shirts into gold ones.:)

Whatever type of uniform it is, based on Scotty's, over at Trekcore, they're saying that looking back on it, what Quinto was wearing in the dressing room wigs selfie was a reaveal of this new uniform, too. If so, the Starfleet emblem must a pin, as they were in TNG, and not permanently attached to the uniform.

They were metal pins in the first two nuTrek movies.
