Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Not sure the fullness of theaters will necessarily mean anything, at least around where I am. We're going to see it in IMAX 3D tonight. The theater we're going to has four IMAX showings and eight 2D showings, today. With all those opportunities at just that one area theater, even 1/2 to 3/4 full theaters (especially for the matinees) wouldn't be bad.
I'm not guessing it will blow away financial expectations, but I wouldn't be surprised if it surpassed the upper estimates by a little. The negative reviews don't point out major flaws or things that may keep people way so much as they are full of snark or observations directly contradictory to the overwhelming positive things being said in reviews (to the point you wonder if they saw the same movie). That could mean good word of mouth. Heck, my wife (not a big fan) is actually looking forward to it based on the ads. Next weekend will be the big test in the US. Will it be a small drop-off? What kind of legs will it have?

I have a optimist perspective. I think this movie can match ST2009 domestic box office. At least.

Went to a 1:30 PM matinee (3D). There were all of four people in there, two of them being the husband and I.

Almost as if it were an omen before I see Beyond today, the very best promo for Beyond comes on:

I just got home a couple hours ago from an 18:40 screening. It was about 65-75% full, lot of empty seats around the front at least.

So damn proud! :bolian:

Resistance is futile.

See Star Trek Beyond.

I went to the 10:00am screening because it was cheaper, It was 9.99 plus tax and I had a $10 reward credit so I only paid .69 to see it in IMAX 3D. There were only like 2-4 people per row so it was pretty quiet, which I liked since the last few movies I've seen had crying babies...

I went last night to an 8pm showing and it was mostly full barring a few seats on the front row. I'm still trying to digest. I'll probably see it again this weekend some time before I rate it, though there was some areas I was a little disappointed in, though I think it's just more the arc they were going for than any mistake made.

I forgot to post this but AMC gave me this pin for seeing it in IMAX 3D, did any other theaters give out little freebies?

This movie has the biggest RSVP list for the movie meetup group in my area by far. 21 people have RSVPed for tomorrow. Usually there is around 6-7 people.

no freebies at my cinema. When first went in there was just me but I think by the time movie started there was 16 at my 2pm oden north london

There was a plain little poster at ours (not something that was really fantastic) and I meant to grab one after the show (there was a whole pile), but I forgot to do so.

Just got back from a 4pm screening, and there were maybe 10 people. Looked like it was filling up outside in prep for the next screening, however.

For the movie itself - I LOVED it! It hit all the right notes, and has become my favorite Trek film.
