Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Yes, that's confirmed in one of the new Simon Pegg interviews on TrekCore.
... related to Tom Paris and Admiral Paris on Voyager? If so, how would they make that clear in the movie?

this is still a 100 years before those characters are around so who knows.

The beautiful Regal Cinemas-exclusive "Star Trek Beyond" poster, the only full-cast design spotted so far.

I think crying foul because the argument is repetitive is quite funny when resolving the issue would end the moaning. Those rolling their eyes are most often men who never even noticed that there was an imbalance in the first place.

A lot of different people moan about a LOT of different things in JJ's trek world. If resolving all of them was actually done I shudder to think what would end up on screen. As for only men rolling their eyes I wouldn't count on it.

I said, 'most often' men, precisely to head off this kind of predictable response ;-P Plus, while I confess that there are many things which I would happily tweak in JJ's first two efforts, gender equality should have required minimal effort, which is why I cited it as an 'easy win'. If only gender equality alone could have improved the stories and filled the plot holes ;-P

Of course, I have been indoctrinated by the Geena Davis institute on Gender in the Media so my motives are suspect but I do understand that many ladies don't view gender equality as a priority. Women would have started running things decades ago if they did...

Holy shit! (Sorry, moderation).
I didn’t see that one coming

Jeff Bezos made even the stars of Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond look like small potatoes during what turns out to be a cameo scene he shot for the new sequel. The Amazon founder and billionaire came complete with a security entourage and multiple limos, according to director Justin Lin and producer JJ Abrams, who confirmed Bezos plays an alien in a scene that involved a single long tracking shot comprising many characters. Bezos’s even listed in the credits.

Great stuff! This is why I read spoilers because it hopefully gets me more excited to see a new movie. These go way well...beyond... My expectations. That video was certainly a surprise but it explains a lot of hints we heard from other vague spoilers.

If you are planning to go see Star Trek Beyond, Simon suggests you avoid all TV Spots and trailers from this point forward.

Boy, it's so hard not to click on this Krall spoiler! I WANT TO KNOW! Three more days! I'm so excited!
I'm not one who usually cares about spoilers (if they're good, knowing them usually make me more excited rather than dampens my enthusiasm), and as a mod in this forum it's pretty much impossible to avoid learning everything beforehand, but if I were someone who wanted to remain surprised, I'd regret learning a spoiler of that magnitude in advance. Save it for the film and you'll be genuinely shocked and pleasantly surprised by the twist.

Crazy, this is certainly not the first time a studio has gone against the wishes of film's creators on how to market their film. But this might be one of the most extreme examples. My guess is there are two reasons for this. That Paramount feels the last film held back way too much information and it hurt the box office. The other is they want to show off a popular actor whose presence will attract people outside the normal Trek audience.

I see the same jackasses who were responsible for the spoilerific TV promos for Terminator Genisys that gave away the huge twist about the villain have struck again (no, I don't know if it's the same people, I'm just making a point about TV spots that give away huge spoilers).

I'm sure that Marketing's main concern here is to bump Trek stories up to the top of entertainment websites and Google searches over the next 48 hours by any means necessary. Between this and dropping their review embargo a week early they seem determined to beat their earlier box office tracking.

Agreed.

It first showed up on my FB feed and I clicked on it unawares.

Really wish I hadn't.

I also think it's kind of funny that, despite all of Abrams's attempts and mystery boxing CumbyKhan and Rey's glowstick, they were both "Well, Duh!" moments for anyone paying attention.

Yet this is a legitimate plot twist needlessly spoiled by the marketing team.

Let's face it,
Idris Elba's face
will bring people to the theater.

You maybe right though. Terminator Genisys was released by Paramount too! So it probably was the same people who made this marketing decision.

No. They're not likely to repeat what didn't work.

The studio let out a lot about that movie because they were trying desperately to create interest against a lot of really bad buzz. Star Trek doesn't have that problem right now. This is a pretty obvious ploy to cut through the media noise three or four days before release.
