Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Now in that poster Franklin is the Warp 4 ship. Yet it looks a bit more advanced than the NX-01--a Warp 5 ship....
I always thought the NX 01 looked too advanced for its time. To me the Franklin looks a little less sleek than the NX 01, as Scotty would say "a bucket of bolts".

Looks different to me.

You're right! I thought the costumes were the same. They're still very similar, but I'll wait to see them "in action" before making any final judgements.

So this was what spawned two spinoff threads.
Hrm, first "monkeying off," next "aping off," now "spawned".

A reproductive activity, this time, rather than a third primate, but you're still essentially equating posters starting threads with animal behavior.

Not a good idea, really, and neither wanted nor needed here. I'd recommend you drop that line of attack altogether, and stick to talking about Star Trek.

Just a little tidbit from my current neck of the woods;

The shooting budget for Star Trek Beyond in Dubai was $32 million dollars. The biggest ever for our little city! MI: GP had been the largest at $22 million, but our little Wagon Train to the Stars beat it all hollow!

(Source: http://gulfnews.com/leisure/movies/.../star-trek-in-dubai-cost-32-million-1.1637006)

How much of that goes to the city vs. how much is about the cost of getting all the equipment and whatnot over there?

I am no Movie Budget Expert, but I believe the $32 million comprised what the Production budgeted for shooting in Dubai, which would have included all cost related to what was needed to shoot, and what was shot.

I'd guess that a majority of the necessary equipment, apparatus, and services (not to mention extras) were contracted from local companies (no doubt with the assistance of folks from the Dubai Film and Television Commission.) While some favorite tools and toys may have been brought along from LA or Vancouver, I imagine it's simply not cost-effective to ship everything you'll need halfway around the world for a shoot of 7 to 10 days.

Well that certainly makes sense. I would have no idea what equipment would be available in Dubai (I'm thinking about whatever high end digital cameras they use more than anything else).

Obviously Dubai fits better as a futuristic cityscape, I just wondered how much of $32M goes into city coffers & the F&T Commision you mentioned.

Judging from the image, about a dozen at most.

Plus, the warp drive is right under the transporter, so the power would be going directly to it. Not sure how good an idea that is.
