Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Am I missing something here? Is the news that he was up late working and had the munchies?
I think some people reposted it elsewhere as if he was in fact working on the trailer or the fan event. Otherwise, editing Beyond probably wouldn't really call for him working that late solely on it this deep into editing.

Sticking with the Beastie Boys theme, how about Paul Revere:

Now here's a little story I've got to tell
About three bad brothers you know so well
It started in an alternate history
With Mr. Spock, M.C.Coy, and me - James T.
Stole a little Corvette I could barely steer
Just me and my car heading toward a cliff that's sheer
Riding across the land, kicking up sand
Sheriff's robot on my tail cause I'm in demand
One lonely Kirkie I be
All by myself without nobody
Cupcake's beating down on my face and back
The bar is gettin' cleared, the beer is getting flat
Lookin' for a girl I ran into a guy
His name is Captain Pike, I said, "Howdy" he said, "Hi"

He told a little story that sounded well rehearsed
About my Daddy dying on the day of my birth
Kelvin shaker in my hand, Starfleet needed an assist
His voice was stern, my beer was dry, he asked me to enlist
He said, "Can you get it done?"
I said, "Faster than anyone!"
I chose to make a run
To the shuttle station
Saw Uhura, her eyes rolled in her head
A guy sat down next to me and this is what he said,

"Now my name is M.C.Coy I've got a license to heal
Since the shuttle's taking off it's time for me to get ill
Now you better listen here, space is something you should fear
It's darkly silent disease and danger do I make myself clear?"
Went to the simulator, he had a frown, I had a grin
You think this story's over but it's ready to begin

"Now should I fire the guns to try and rescue the crew
Of the wayward ship Kobayashi Maru?
It's a no-win decision as you can see
The Klingons will blow us away or you can order retreat"
I said, "Open fire, save the crew, then get us to the border
The Klingons will want payback for this massive slaughter"
I pointed like this, ate an apple like that
All the Klingon ships started going "splaaaat"

So, under the gun for my solution
Admiral Madea didn't think it was fun
Commander Spock is my accuser's name
I got busted but this will be my claim to fame
Off to Vulcan in an hour, Bones gave me a shot
My heart was a pumping and my forehead felt hot
Uhura was staring at my swollen lips
I took an empty seat next to her on the bridge

Pike said, "Yo, who brought this kid?"
M.C.Coy said, "I didn't." but I know he did
I said, "Get ready cause this ain't funny,
Romulans on the loose and it's about to get ugly."
Pulled out the shuttle and aimed it at the sky
Pike yelled, "Suit up!" and let three fly
Chutes went up but Olsen hit the laser core
Sulu wasted two goons with his folding sword
"I'm Mr. Spock and I'm circumspect
But the destruction of my planet has left me wrecked"
M.C.Coy was with it and he's my ace
So I chased Mr. Spock and got up into his face
Following Nero's out, the debate is stopped
I still had beef, so my pod got dropped
Spock left the area, M.C.Coy gave him a scold
I outran two creatures on a planet that's cold.

Locutus, you have got to consider Posting in the "Star Trek Poetry" Thread!

What's hilarious about this is Simon Pegg, the writer of the film, didn't even like the trailer.

Hey Simon, "you're gonna need to go back to your mom’s basement and take a f***in’ nap!"

This guy from Slipknot said stop taking movies so seriously!

Start the betting pool now. What song will the new trailer use?

Maybe something by Willy Nelson.
Well since it has to be something "cool" and "hip" and every other modern blockbuster trailer does it now, it'll be some variation of this for two minutes...

I didn’t love it, because I know there’s a lot more to the film. There’s a lot more story, and a lot more character stuff, and a lot more what I would call ‘Star Trek stuff.’

This is what Pegg said.

So what he's saying is he knows its not indicative of the whole film. It's a qualification. It doesn't mean the teaser isn't good.

A 90 second trailer is supposed to announce a movie, not give you it's story, and Pegg knows that. They don't want to reveal the story much and haven't given a full plot detail yet, so what's supposed to be in the teaser? Monkeys jumping around? Nope, action, movement, special FX. Several other trek teasers through history have no story or even footage from the movie in them at all, because they are there to let people know it's coming out in the future.

Obviously the pros think it's a good trailer because it's been nominated for best teaser. Appropriately so.

Have you noticed that after that movie came out a whole shit ton of others also used that noise?

It's bloody annoying.

[Who's] Corey Taylor, and why should I care what he thinks?
I had no idea who he was either but his quotes are making the rounds..trending as such.
Slipknot isn't really my kind of music, but I knew just enough about them to recognize the name and wonder why he was showing up on a Trek news site. Apparently, he's a genre fan (not all that surprising, when you consider Slipknot's original look) and his Trek comments were part of a larger tangent on current genre films generally, arising out of an interview he did. He watches the stuff, he has opinions. Fair enough, on a slow news day.

More amusing for me was—after seeing all the gatekeepers in the comments section rushing to dismiss everything about Corey Taylor ("His band is the devil's spawn, he has nothing to do with Trek, who does he think he is and why should we care what he says, etc. Oh, and JJ is evil.")—reading the last comment in the thread:
I read the comments and all I can say is, Quod Erat Demonstrandum

Yeah. I wondered the same thing. Some exposition would have been nice.

Spin. Pegg was validating negative fan reaction by concurring. As for the pros and what's good, it hasn't seemed to work for the Oscars lately. It only calls into question the validity and virtue of professional opinion.

And yet the majority of viewers liked the trailer..over 2/3rds. Even if we are to suggest that a large number of them are trekkies and "skewing" the numbers because "it's not trek".

Here is pegg's full quote: It was very action-packed. I didn’t… Yeah. It was surprising. I find it to be kind of the marketing people saying, “Everybody come and see this film, it’s full of action and fun,” when there’s a lot more to it than that. I didn’t love it because I know there’s a lot more to the film. There’s a lot more story and a lot more character stuff, and a lot more what I would call Star Trek stuff. But you know, they’ve got to bring a big audience in. They’ve got to bang the drum. To the Star Trek fans, I’d say be patient.

I notice two things. One, he should know better than to be "surprised"(I mean again, they are not going to reveal the plot here) and 2, he's directing comments to the trek "fans", because he's assuming the teaser appealed to others(the majority).

Yes, it's pretty common these days suggest professional people aren't as good judges of their own profession, yet I'd still take their word over yours unless I had mitigating reasons not to.

RAMA

Paramount has changed STB release date in Brasil. From July 22 to september 1st. It is very distant. Why? :wah:

It doesn't matter how many viewers like something - if a few self-professed fans dislike it loudly enough, only their opinion counts.

Or something.

The first Beyond trailer was great; looking forward to the next. :)

I'm not saying it's true, but there is a rumor that the movie may be delayed. The change of date in Brazil (from July to September) was something strange because everyone knew about Olympics. There is no reason to move to September. July is the school holiday period in Brazil. I do not know if there was a change on other dates. I heard a rumor that Lin would be dissatisfied with the production of sound. Would it be reason to delay? Others have said that Paramount did not like the movie. I think that only after the 20th is that we will know what will happen. Conspiracy theory?
