Two weeks too soon, bro.
This is getting worrisome.
Just over three months to release and we have neither an official trailer nor do we have any promotions coming out.
We had a trailer for SW:TFA one full year before everything began. Hype started three years early!
ST:Beyond is having neither of those, and with the hype of BvS and CA:CW reaching peak, there will not even be a whisper of ST:Beyond.
Embarassing that Deadpool does 700mil as a new property but ST can't muster even half that.![]()
Pegg just pulled out...
...he said something about wanting to make a real film for Fans and Critics:

I'm curious how Deadpool's huge success on a relatively miniscule budget ($40 million vs $200 million for Star Wars VII) will affect the way studios approach tentpole movies.
A journalist from Wired said he was in the film editing room, and he seems excited about the film. Can you transcribe the interview about the film? Did he say any spoiler?

ThanksNot too much to get from it. He was excited for it and thinks Pegg is a really good writer. He mentioned that Justin Lin is super detail oriented and was pointing out some technical details Lin wanted changed, such as the look of one of the Enterprise's thrusters. He also said they are doing some really cool things with Idris Elba as well, and that this film delves into the interpersonal relationships of the crew that they've developed after years in space together.
So there is hope we see the crew being a family and different dynamics besiude Spock/Bones banter? Not too much to get from it. He was excited for it and thinks Pegg is a really good writer. Plus it's a reboot of a character from Wolverine: Origins.
At least someone is optimistic. I still think this movie will surprise many people, including me.
I'm hoping we'll get a "classic" sci-fi poster, with a big shadowy head of Krall, and then our heroes bunched underneath in action poses.Hope the poster will be more like the original movie posters than the usual PhotoShop stuff but I'm expecting the latter
Yeah, I haven't actually watched GOTG, but what I've seen looks nothing like FF.In other words, Lin has nothing at all to do with the GOTG thing.
I'm sure his hiring has a great deal more to do with the F&F thing - that is, having made a number of big budget movies that make huge money internationally. The dude's success owes nothing to Marvel or to skiffy genre movies.
Here is a transcript of what was said in that interview:
