So the space seed theory applies not only to humans but also to beavers? Now we have the tech for convincing talking animals, we can look forward to Cardassian Beaver (they trick the wood), Klingon Beaver (they defeat the wood), and Bajoran Beaver (they worship the wood).

It could mean "beyond" in the dictionary sense as short-hand for "where no one has gone, before."
Or it could indeed connote optimism in the context of the last movie. As in "beyond the darkness," referring to Starfleet going back to its original missions of peace after the dark period of Marcus's war-mongering command.
Actually, the ambivalence of the title is starting to make it more intriguing to me. (If, of course, this is or remains the title.)

The last movie was "Star Trek Into Darkness", with Khan. The next movie is "Star Trek Beyond". Sooooo. Does anyone know what Benedict Cumberbatch is doing right now? Does he have a conspicuous gap in his work schedule starting around the time STB is filming?
