The solution is to reset the phasers to the inverse harmonic of the interferometric pulses that link the swarm together to be able to disrupt their ability to work as a group.

They're both even called "the Swarm". But the Voyager ones were leaching, the Beyond ones are ramming through the hull and tearing the ship to shreads. The "stranded on a hostile planet" plot kinda reminds me of "Basics" too.

There's an alternate universe out there, where Voyager was serialised and they did something really cool like this, blew up the ship and scattered the crew. I'd have loved to see that.

That would have been pretty cool to see. Voyager crashes into a remote jungle or something. Salvageable but heavily damaged. The crew scattered and trying to find one another before making the push against the baddies and reclaiming their home.

There are a couple of fanfictions out there with that storyline. I haven't read them, just seen the descriptions so I have no idea if they are any good or not.

Wouldn't be the first time Spock screwed with McCoy's mind. I'm sure he could implant a few memory engrams.
