Star Trek Beyond Trailer Recut (Very well done.)

This guy actually recut the trailer completely, put scenes in different places, and different music. No overlapping music, completely replaced.

I like the new trailer, but I have to say this recut is impressive.

It's to appease all the trekkies from TOS era, who think Star Trek should only have music from Classical era or Two Steps from Hell. Which people don't get most of the music in Star Trek was classical because it's not licensed.

I like both, and impressed with the cut work in this.

I agree. I am just impressed with the guys cut work. But at least the TOS fans have something to drool over now.

I'll adhere to my strategy of not clicking on YouTube links posted by cadets who seem suspiciously like they're pimping their own work.

Very well-made, but it lacks the "oomph" that the 'Sabotage' trailer had with the change of music. That's more of a criticism, if anything, to the original trailer, it's alarming that it had to rely on its music to get any sense of excitement. You could attach 'Sabotage' to literally any trailer and it will feel exciting, that song is pure and utter hype.

It's the same clip which was RT'd yesterday by TrekMovie. Looks like the author of the recut is this guy.

It's more like "standard trailer music" and features the giant pounding drum sound now found in a lot of movie music, but I'm not really any more knocked out by this than I was by the version with the Beasties. It's okay, but in neither case was the music actively doing much to support the action we see.

I'm a TOS fan from back in the pre-TAS days, and I didn't have a problem with the trailer in its official form.

Star Trek has never been scored with "classical music" in the proper usage of the term.

The only times that actual classical music was used in Trek were when characters were listening to it.

Nicholas Meyer wanted to score STVI:TUC with Holst's "The Planets" (arguably neo-classical?) but the licensing would have cost way too much.

Though it's still pretty damn well evoked in the opening theme of TUC.

I like the editing done here. It's very well done, and much more befitting and in line with the teasers and trailers for the previous two reboot films. I think the BB song was simply put, a mistake.

It will be very interesting to see where "Trailer #1" takes things in terms of tone and feel whenever it drops.

What about someone who registered here over fifteen years ago? (It's certainly way, way better than my hamfisted attempt at a trailer edit, which you'd be better off not clicking on.)

Anyway this is the kind of edit that feels like it could have been what the trailer was if they didn't opt for Sabotage - this kind of 'trailer music' fits the general vibe of the Abrams films.

Every watched Psycho or TWOK without the music? There's a reason filmmakers use it, and it's hardly a cheat. Cinema is the combination of sight and sound to get an effect, even as far back as 'silent' films usually having accompaniment.

I like the recut. Prefer the actual version though.
