Spoilers Star Trek Beyond references

Why not the same? Carol Marcus distinctly lacked a British accent in TWOK. Who's to say Finnegan's family didn't emigrate to the US in the Kelvin timeline?

Maybe in the Director's Cut, they can splice in a stereotypical Irish jig to accompany his scenes. That would convince me!

Actually, it would have been fun -- albeit a bit over the top -- to have seen the following exchange during the Enterprise's approach to Yorktown:

FINNEGAN: Enterprise, you're cleared to dock. Welcome home, Jimmy boy!

KIRK: Acknowledged, Yorktown. [under his breath]: I really want to beat the tar out of that guy.

LOVED all the Enterprise references. In fact, except for TOS, there's more Ent in the film than any other Trek. Good to see it get some love.
Did anyone else feel that the closing credits typeface resembled TNG's? I'm sure it was intentional.

The USS Franklin was named after Justin Lin's father, Frank Lin. It was mentioned before but I will mention it again, the registry number for the Franklin is Leonard Nimoy's birthday.

Can you give some examples? My dad said he swore there were references to other franchises but he forgot what they were.

Inception is referenced by the visual "folding" of the cityscape skylines. At least that's what instantly came to mind for me.

Avatar was definitely referenced when the crewmembers first got out of their escape pods on-world and white jelly-fish creatures floated around in the air like on Pandora. A small nod with a smile but it's definitely there...nearly identical creatures.

Are you serious about the name? I
One of my pet peeves of Trek are all the European ship names ... but in this case...

Any link to "prove" this?

Can anyone point me when/which is the genesis planet and where's the planet killer in the final sequence?

I haven't read the topic, but was that a reference to Q at the end about the anomaly that could blink them out of existence and he clicks his fingers at the exact same time?

You're all forgetting that HUGE DS9 reference: The Yorktown
At the risk of having to turn in my nerd card for asking this....what was the significant of Yorktown in DS9?

It's been a while since I've seen DS9 and they had 100 stories going at once, and the Yorktown is coming up blank for me.

I think it's simply the fact that they are both space stations.

Is Yorktown a diplomatic hub? Or just a location that desperately tries to stay away from all diplomacy and other political intrigue, hence being located far away from everything?
