Spoilers Star Trek Beyond references

Hi there,
i attended the preview screening yesterday evening and though i found the movie a little imbalanced at times at was still quite enjoyable. As of now, its my favourite of the reboot Trek movies...

What keeps stuck in my mind are the subtle references to the other Trek movies and series. Actually my theory is, that Star Trek Beyond includes direct references to all of the prior movies and all of the prior series. This would make sense, especially in terms of the 50 year Star Trek anniversary
Lets try to break this down; im not able to pin point every reference yet but maybe i can get some help:

Movies:
1. TMP: not really sure about. Maybe the exteriour view of the Enterprise at the beginning.
2. TWOK: Villain stranded on an abandonded planet
3. TSFS: Destruction of the Enterprise
4: TVH: Thats where the idea first struck my mind: Enterprise coming out of the water like a whale.
5: TFF: Not sure yet, maybe the picture Prime spock gave to Young Spock
6. TUC: Not sure
7: Generations: The saucer "seperation" scene and how the saucer crash landed on the planet
8: FC: Some ot the fight scenes on the Enterprise where quite similar to the ones in First Contact
9: Insurrection: The villain is using technique to rejuvenate himself. Also the cloaked NX class ship on the ground:
10: Nemesis: The poison/agent, Kral tried to kill the people on the station with

Series:
Enterprise: Well kinda obvious: the Maco villain and the NX class ship
TOS: The papier-mâché sets ^^
TNG: the space station reminded me of the Dyson´s sphere in the "Relics" Episode. But there gotta be more references
DS9: The deep space station^^
Voyager: Dont know yet

Am i completely off track here or did Pegg really plan a scavenger hunt for the fans?

I think you're really stretching. Here's some obvious ones:

II - Bones wishing Kirk good eyesight and a full head of hair!
III - Scotty commenting that Spock and Bones could have wound up merged after the transport

TOS - Plenty including musical cues (particularly after Kirk is in the trap), references to a giant green space hand, Kirk's line about their adventures feeling "episodic" and - my absolute favourite, Kirk commenting that his shirt was ripped again

I think there was an Admiral Paris mentioned.

Things I picked up:
TMP- The scene near the end where they learn Krall's true identity, reminded me of V'ger's reveal in TMP. Also, the scene near the beginning where they dock at the Yorktown base reminds me of the StarFleet command scene at the beginning of TMP
TSFS- Enterprise destruction. Also , crew escaping in villain's ship
TVH- Crew lands ship in the water, near the end. Crew gets new Enterprise A, like in TVH
GEN- Saucer crashing on alien planet
INS- Most of the plot being land-based. The reveal of who Krall and his crew are . Krall rejuvenating himself with alien tech. Cloaked ship
NEM- some of the fight scenes on the Enterprise at the beginning remind me of Riker vs Viceroy in NEM.

I have watched the Star Trek Beyond.

Krall's background comes right from ENT. He's a MACO who fought the Xindi and also in the Romulan War. In fact, the resistance members of Terra Prime would have called Krall a comerade in arms.

Also, I thought it was fitting that the TOS theme tune played at the end of the movie.

I mentioned it in another thread, but I love that they used the same typeface for subtitles as the classic Trek movies (TMP and WOK, at least.) Whether or not it counts is up to you. :)

Is the Romulan War mentioned by name?

I think it is wonderful for them to to include other show/movie references considering it is the 50th Anniversary- nice homage

It's nice of them to include reference to the earlier movies and television shows. I did, however, miss any obvious references to The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. :(

sorry to say this, but your arguments in this topic are ...........not good.
After all this movies filmed decades before "Star Trek Beyond" you mention just SOMETHING you feel it would fit just to count it for this particular movie.
The only things I would agree, are the crash of the saucer section on the planet (same like in Star Trek 7) and of course the mention of MACO, Romulan War, NX-ship and the Xindi. The rest is .........not good.

Nice, like your post.
Greening hand was wonderful, perfect example.
I think everyone was hearing the name of Admiral Paris, but I could not make any connection. Maybe there is not much behind.
Like i just said post before, it was ashtonishing like they mentioned the romulan war and the xindi. I had goose bumps at this time. This was the first officially mentioning of the Xindi in an canon Star Trek movie/series, after the series Enterprise was canceled. Ok, not difficult, because all of Star Trek was shot before this series, but it was nice to hear it again, that it was not forgotten or just ignored.

Do I need spoiler tags in my previous post? I do not know how to activate them. If i need them, maybe a mod can intall them for me. Thank you.
But do we need them? Nobody who dont want to be spoiled, would read this complete topic...

I've added them to your post.

They're not absolutely necessary, as the thread is already flagged as containing spoilers, but this early on, it can provide an extra courtesy layer for people who haven't seen the movie yet.

To add spoiler tags yourself, you just want to highlight the text to be covered, then click the Insert ( + ) button on the menu, and select "Spoiler".
