"Bill Nye is completely on board with team Star Trek. It’s not really that hard to see why. While one of the franchises uses ideas that are at least based in science facts, the other has a much more mystical basis. There’s absolutely nothing scientific about The Force."

He says:

'Star Wars has magic in it! The Force is like a ghost or magic or religion. [Star Trek is] an optimistic view of the future with science. Anti-matter contained in magnetic fields, real physics… [in Star Wars] there's an invisible thing that has superpowers, but in Star Trek they didn't do that.'
Bill Nye

<cough>Q<cough> I mean, his powers were never proven to be any kind of scientifically based technology. Correct?

Seen on a graphic display in TOS The Cage, Explorer S-55 was a real NASA satellite launched in '61 and designed to study micro-meteorites in space. That mission failed but the craft did achieve some science including discovering the Van Allen belts.

Presumably an in-joke reference to the classic TV show Car 54, Where Are You?, an on screen arrival roster lists the name and personal of the Starship Car 54-Q captained by R, Savage. DS9 Whispers

53 years of Romulan isolation ended when seven battle cruisers were detected approaching a Federation Neutral Zone outpost. TNG Angel One
