Star Trek and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Why was Kingdom even made The Last Crusade had the perfect ending that brought the Indy trilogy to an end any thoughts?

This, like most questions in here, is vastly rhetorical. Like me asking you why you asked your question. All of us are allowed to have our opinions whether the films we see are bad or good, why this one or that one has an ending, a good scene, or a great character, but if y'all come here for a stock market of opinions, which I guess it is, then time to bail, and I recommend you all bail as well, if not your lives will just be a vast argument over which is better than the other.

You can never be satisfied if that is all you seek from media. Go grow a family.

but let's TRY and answer Startrekrks question, which she could have answered by looking at a Wiki, instead lazily she wanted a social engagement: RIVER PHOENIX WAS HIRED TO MAKE MORE INDIANA JONES FILMS. HE DIED, THIS MADE PREQUELS LESS INTERESTING TO LUCAS. You see, Indiana is a metaphor for America's relationship with myth (like Star Trek is related to our western expansion to California), "Indiana Jones," and the films are about how humans of the 20th century, led by an American archetype, relate to myth and magic and our foolishness means dramas and scary things get to haunt the edges of the modern world, where primitive thoughts are still possible culturally.

Let's just say that as long as people believe in a godhead, or a deity of any sort, IJ is here to stay.

Why was Star Trek ever made? The Undiscovered Country had the perfect ending for the TOS crew.

Simple.

Lucas and Spielberg wanted to make a shitload of money off a new pop-appeal film that'd be guaranteed big box office. Harrison Ford hadn't had a legitimate hit in years.

End of story.

I know I should have used a search tool to find out why they decided to make another Indy film sorry if you think I'm boring you.

If there's an INDY 5 (doubtful given how long it took the gang to reunite for the fourth one and Harrison Ford's advancing years and deteriorating looks)I expect it to take place in the 1960s and center around the Aztecs or Incas. We're so close to 2012 I doubt Steven and George would let that obvious plot slip from their fingers IF they decide and manage to make another movie.

If there's an INDY 5
I'm okay if there isn't. But, like Rambo, if there's another, I'm there.:techman:

Most likely I'd be too. INDY 4 had enough good moments that I wouldn't mind seeing another sequel so long as they wait a few years and come up with a more effective and superior script to the last one that steers clear of the alien theme or anything not supernatural in a more traditional, earthbound sense.

But the supernatural has been a core element of all the Indy films. Taking that away and it really isn't an Indy film. Since the Mayan religion has had a very strong alien connection for several years, so having that was an obvious route to go with (especially with the 1950s setting).

That being said, something I just am realizing as I type this post, is that in the previous films, all the gods/back story/mythology of religions showcased were depicted as being true and co-existing out there. In Indy 4, the gods Mayan religion was specifically shown not to be gods inadvertently suggesting the Mayan religion to be ultimately not true. I seriously doubt that was the intention of Lucas and Co, but it is interesting to look at.

All that being said, I agree with you. I liked Indy 4. If they never make another one, I'll be okay with that. But if they do make another one, I am totally there.

I liked Skulls BECAUSE of the alien stuff. Plus helps explain the origins of the skulls. Since people say, "they gotta be fake, since no one could make them back then!"
I can answer that in 2 ways.
1: The skulls were of some alien origin
2: Who says there were no advanced civilizations that could do it? Our recorded history only goes back several thousand years....so who knows what were back there then? :bolian:

If I want Earthbound stuff, I'll switch on my TV.
