STAR TREK: a series treatment starring APRIL and COLT

You can't write spec banking on a set specific actors. Pine may not want to go back to TV, he might not want to be Kirk after the next movie. You never bank your story on the casting.

That's one of the first things that struck me in the OP. Stephen Fry ? Why call it from the get-go ?

You and about every other asshole wannabe knocking of their door.

There's really no need to be rude, though, Seer.

Actually it's a quote from an old creative writing teacher of mine. When someone in the class would say "I got an in, I know someone/people'. The response was always "You and about every other asshole wannabe knocking on their door".

because Stephen Fry fits the profile of April to a T. in terms of attributes and resume. the same with Felicia Day as Colt.

why... it's about being ready and having a vision (and names) to present, just in case.

can it be re-worked? yes. if it has to, but not on anyone's directive but the actors or studio.

determination, gumption, and perseverance are also in my nature.

like i said. i'll take the chance.

I'm getting to the same page as SeerSGB. Starting to feel like this is nothing but a troll thread.

funny, i had that same feeling.

People here have offered you sound legal and creative advice. Which I thought you asked for, but then you've promptly ignored all of it.

Might be best if you quit wasting you immense creative talents here and go sharpen that concept and 188-episodes. :techman:

uh huh... i presented a product. i didn't ask for ANY creative or legal advice. i asked for criticism, which i bore.

i will take your last line of advice that you presented, as it is sage wisdom. :mallory:

That's a whole lot of work for a troll, but I have to admit that the super-confidence and "I have a friend everywhere in the biz" type thing is seeding doubt in my mind.

I notice that my posts are no longer being acknowledged, so I'm bowing out.

One last unrelated note: zekkie, as someone with Rear Admiral rank here you must know the rules about Spamming re multiple sequential posts. Why not use Multi-quote?

no doubt here. i'm confident in who i am and my ability to navigate who i know to give it a quality shot. i've gotten some pretty hard bills passed through tougher legislatures, so we'll see if the experience translates.

now, to take Bills advice.... good night/day, all.

(re: multiquote= new since i've last posted here)

It doesn't.

Here's a thought, which you'll sneer at now but remember later if - unlikely though it is - you ever get a meeting:

All they have to do is not return your calls.

I'd wish you luck, but with your attitude the kind of luck you'd need would be shameful to waste on show business. Buy a Powerball ticket instead.

I was thinking the same thing. Elected officials and the political system are nothing like studio/network executives.

You can't threaten a studio exec with a primary or an election...

But, oh, well. In someways, this thread has been fun, but the reality is, the treatment won't go anywhere.

The "lobbyist" talk is inflated anyway.

Well, his facebook page does indicate some lobbying. But this is what caught my eye under Work and Education:
Star Trek
showrunning the next television series · Starting in 2014
Chutzpah, thy name is zekkie.
Showrunner? Of course this is what they've been looking for. Why waste time on the folks currently producing successful Trek when they can go to someone with no experience? I'm reminded of Arnie in 'The Last Action Hero'.

Prediction: Will Never Happen.

CBS won't trust a multi-multi-million dollar franchise to someone completely inexperienced in showrunning, no matter what your real world experience.

Sorry.

Chutzpah, thy name is zekkie.

When I was 12, I wanted to build the Enterprise and go in space with the Trek cast as my crew. I eventually learned that just because I can think of something, doesn't mean I can do it, or that anyone but me will care.

this is a pitch, among many, that is WGA registered...

That and about four dollars will buy you a double tall mocha at Starbucks.

show me yours, or show me one better, Buzzkill.
