Has anyone played this?

Banner ad I found for this, and the game has Andorians in it how cool? I just wonder though what the actual game might be like, or if it's a proper game at all or a mobile game...

You can spend a lot of money if you want some shineis, but there is no obligation to pay.
All content is actually free to play.
You just have to put up with constant advertising for the shinies.
Though with a bit of time you can earn what you want purely through in-game means.

It is worth checking out.

Aren't most F2P games like that haha?

You have to pony up real money for nice shiny stuff.

I'm bogged down with as much as I can do at the moment with Skyforge and Defiance. I don't think another MMO will be welcome for me until I ditch one of these, and I like both at the moment..

I do know what Star Trek online is though so I have always kept some kind of an eye on that.

My wife plays Defiance, and I don't get it. To me it looks like the same three missions over and over again. (She plays it on the XBox 360 hooked up to our 55" while I'm on TrekBBS and Facebook, or playing Civ. So I get to see it. I pretty much play all XBox and Playstation games vicariously through her or the kids - I like to see them, but I'm just not interested in playing them for some reason. I've even bought them games that I specifically wanted to see them play. )

I haven't logged into ST:Online since Delta Rising - I do find the gameplay fun, but the plots are all on really, really obvious rails, and I can't fly like I could in Cryptic's other (now defunct) game, City of Heroes. Admittedly, that wouldn't be very appropriate for Trek - but it gave me really cool dreams at night sometimes back when I could still play CoH.

The thing is Defiance was supposed to be tied to the TV show and that would influence the game, and the game would influence the show.. But that never ended up happening and Trion sacked all their staff once the game was finished which was a really dick move to do...

After that it has been a more or less generic shooter with little to no new content and any new items are just reskinned old things with health buffs..
