Star Trek - $6.51 million on Tuesday

I was going through Box Office Mojo, and Trek looks like that it might track very similarly to I Am Legend, which ended up at $256 million domestically. I don't know if it'll do what that did internationally. Though, Trek's only been out for a week, so whatever.

And that despite (1) having to resurrect itself with the public at large and (2) not having a marquis name like Will Smith.

I see Star Trek as having potential to surpass I Am Legend even if the first few weeks track similarly. I Am Legend was a December release, and overall movie attendance tends to drop off after New Years Day. Star Trek, as a summer release, will be playing throughout the summer months. Therefore, I see it as having the potential to pull bigger numbers than I Am Legend in, say, week eight.
