So what are your preferences regarding the plot of nu4? What should the next adventure in the Kelvin Universe be centered around for Kirk and crew?

I'm listing several of the most popularly discussed topics that have seemed to appear throughout the fandom. You can also select multiple options and mix and match some if you'd like.

Please vote and explain why you chose what you did. I'm interested to see the responses and the conversations that could be generated.

I would love to see Chris Hemsworth again as George Kirk. (I know, that's not a big suprise considering my avatar. :D) But I am not sure it should done by time travel into the past, just in form of a connection between two universes at the same time period.

Also the Klingons could be a major part in that story as rivals of the Federations in a race against time for finding something which causes an overlapping of alternate universes or is related to that events in some way.

So I would vote for "Kirk's Dad w/o Time Travel" and "Klingons".

I still like the idea that Kirk would wind up back in time somehow and in a position to save his father; allowing him to get to know George a little bit, and leaving Kirk the same kind of choice Prime Kirk had with Edith Keeler.

Kirk could save George and get to know his dad in the same way that Prime Kirk did. However..... that still leaves Nero. If he saved George, KelvinKirk won't have the same rough upbringing or the events of his life all leading to the rebel saving the day. He can save George, but.... he risks ruining the future by doing so.

It's good moral conflict that can add Spock/McCoy into the mix with their regular input and has enough scope for action and adventure.

I think the Doomsday Machine would update well. Maybe with some investigation of the inside of the machine and discovery of its backstory.

I don't want to see anything that revisits what came before, whether that's TOS stuff or JJ stuff. (Not counting sly little eggs or references.)

Not that keen on the idea of bringing George Kirk back, or having him interact with Jim.
I think Beyond did a good job of finally settling some of his daddy issues, and pushing Kirk more in line with his TOS counterpart instead of the rebel without a cause shtick he did for the first two movies.

I can see it now - 'Star Trek Doomsday'

Me too. The different ways they could update the DM could make for an amazing nuTrek film.

Cool marketing possibilities too.

Agree 100% The daddy issues need to go away. Kirk is a brilliant Captain leader tactician who more times than not thought talked used logic his way out of a situation than people realize

JJ reducing the character to a caricature in some respects needs to go away

Love to see Hemsworth but not if it means more Daddy issues

It's also been over 20 years since general audiences have experienced the Borg on the big screen. A reinterpreted Borg film done right would be a smash hit.

Kirk vs. the Borg --- sells itself.

Star Trek 4

Kirk applies for a new position as Admiral of the Fleet since he has five years deep space experience he must be qualified for the position. A whale probe shows up and demands the secret map to Sha Ka Ree. Sybok leaves his Risian hiding place to rescue Earth from its follies of destroying the whales in the past and goes back in time to retrieve the map. There are rumours George Kirk is still alive in a Romulan prison cell. The Enterprise goes to investigate only to discover George Kirk has been cloned and is the new Romulan Praetor. He takes a liking to Spock who he kidnaps since he has such a beautiful mind. Uhura gets pissed and goes to rescue her man, her shirt gets ripped and McCoy steps in and like a Southern gentleman gives her his own, along with the entrance code to his quarters.
The situation is resolved.
The final scene, James Kirk steps out of the shower in his apartment in Iowa and tells Carol Marcus about this strange dream he had that Vulcan was destroyed by this weird man named Nero....
Cue music from Dallas ...er Star Trek.

I'm looking forward to the resolution of Jim's 3-movies-long daddy issues in ST4. However it works (time travel, George was beamed off the USS Kelvin one millisecond from splatting against the front window, AU etc), as long as it's entertaining, I'm on board.

Long time reader first time poster here. This call will be monitored for quality and training.

In short -- I was enjoying the new Star Trek until they brought time travel into it. If I want time hopping and related I can go watch Dr. Who. I love Dr. Who. I love Star Trek. Star Trek needs to cool it with time-travel and just stick with space stuff for a LONG time forward. It's been done to death in-franchise. No more, please.

Alternate realities would be fine, alternate histories, that sort of thing is fine. So long as it's not going back in time to change this or save that. It's tiresome at this point.

Frankly I'd love another story like Beyond. Invoke the Doomsday machine or some other eldretch-tech threat and aim it at a Federation member-world. Have it wreck a fleet and leave the Enterprise virtually unharmed. Do something unique and NOT wreck the ship beyond repair.

That's what I would like to see on the big screen. A high-stakes adventure that isn't time-travel or ship-wrecking.

Won't happen though, Hollywood can't stray from the formulas.

I still think the daddy issues will re-surface with Kirk not only surpassing his dad in years, but facing his own impending fatherhood. Not necessarily with Carol, but could be.

I think the saving Dad a la Edith Keeler would work nicely. And what if his dad has found a new love interest wherever he's been? Maybe Mirror George impersonates dead George...

I had this crazy idea that Sarek and Winona Kirk wind up together and give Spock and Kirk a quarter Vulcan half-sister.

A female villain, or maybe no villain - just someone whose ideology/idea about how to solve the problem they face conflicts with Kirk's, but who ultimately winds up on Kirk's side.

Kevin Riley, if Chekov is not recast. Or maybe they'll give Jaylah Chekov's navigator position...

...or how about something different -- Kirk sees things from the other POV and goes with it. Instead of the tired cliche of "everyone loves Federationland..."

I thought you said something "different".

Far as I'm concerned, the Federation gets the bum rap too damn many times. I say, let them actually BE right for once.
