STAR TREK 4/XIV - What's officially known?

They're two different companies --- CBS and Paramount -- producing two competing products. I suspect Paramount isn't thinking twice about whether Discovery gets a cushy start.

...No, they aren't. Paramount and CBS are both owned by the Redstones. They are not competitors. One company makes films, the other makes TV. They aren't as closely linked as previously but the money from both all ends up in the same peoples bank accounts.

I am.

CBS is owned by CBS Corporation which is owned by National Amusements which is owned by the Redstones.

Paramount is owned by National Amusements which is owned by the Redstones.

Google / Wikipedia it.

One's making a TV show and the other is making films. So,not really in direct competition with each other. The companies are both subsidiaries of Nation Amusements.

As per a non-compete agreement, CBS couldn't air Discovery until 6 months after the release of Star Trek Beyond (not that it mattered, with the endless Discovery delays). I'm curious how the next film will be released around the ongoing series.

Between the movies and Discovery? Not likely since they take place in two different timelines.

If it's the main cast from the Enterprise, I see no reason why Pine, et al couldn't play the Prime Timeline incarnations of their characters.

if it happens its more likely to be CG Shatner, Hunter, Nimoy etc (like Rogue One)

To be honest, I have no hope that we have a good movie. Paramount is just one shit storm after the other. I don´t trust them. I hope this "great idea" of JJ Abrams works.
