I have zero doubts one day we will get a new Star Trek movie.
But, personally, I think we can put a fork in the Kelvin timeline. It's pretty much done.
Which is a shame, it started off so well (and I LOVED Beyond), but, that's probably all she wrote.
On the other hand, with the streaming Trek renaissance, I'm overly satisfied with what's at the Trek buffet table!

it appears Hemsworth will sign up to play the male lead in the Mad Max Fury Road prequel so maybe that would scupper him doing ST4 anytime soon idk

Can't say I'm overly upset, by that, personally - not too sold on the idea, but admittedly we know little. Also, a Fury Road prequel? That seems...a curious choice. Before the other three Mad Max films, as well, or after them, or between a couple, or what? Things could get a tad confusing, there.

Every so once in a while, Mail gets something perfectly correct, but yeah, most of the time it should be viewed with some skepticism.

It's a romantic comedy about how he meets his wife. At the end one of the guests in the background at their wedding reception is watching news on their phone and you can just hear the anchor mention a gas shortage getting worse.
I wonder if the new head of movies at Paramount would consider cameo appearances of the JJ Kirk and Spock to promote or pass the torch for the new crew of characters? Still set in the JJ-Universe.
File that idea in the “oh dear lord no” pile and burn it.

Nice to hear he seems enthusiastic again for it
Its nice Pine has an easy-going relationship with the franchise that made him a household name. A lot of actors don't.
There were rumours he had pulled out of ST4. Maybe that was his reps?
I think he’s just getting tired of phoning-in BMW commercial voice-overs. Honestly, I would be too. 
He might have had some other projects going on while ST4 was still iffy.
Wonder Woman 1984 was the big one for him recently. He’s not as prolific as other actors his age. Looking at his IMDB page indicates he seems to be a little more particular about the roles he plays. Nothing wrong with that - just uncommon.
