For the amount of money he is being paid?
His looks are only going to last so long.....and if he is typecast into those roles, once he loses his looks, finding work may be challenging if all he played his entire career was the hot blonde. Foresight and all. I follow Pine's career and I know he's had issues not being typecast with his looks, so I'm sure Hemsworth has the same problem. Though the difference is Pine actually does care, he wants to play other characters and grow as an actor.

Edit: Of course with the amount of money he makes he can keep them longer with plastic surgery. lol

Hemsworth is quite good in Rush, the F1 movie he did some years ago.
Many actors (like many athletes) require strong direction to get a good performance out of them. I find it likely Hemsworth has not had such strong direction in too many of his films.

I've always said Trek is a tentpole, and corporate tumult and pandemics notwithstanding, another Trek film would be made.

The more I read about Hawley, the more I liked him as the force behind the return. I honestly look forward to whatever project he's working on.

He’s the same character in Rush as well though, unfortunately. ‘Blonde party boy’ — he can just drive really well instead of wielding a hammer.

Good movie, though.

Cheers,

LoL!!! JKM, have you seen Netflix' "Extraction"? It's a different side of Hemsworth, I haven't finished watching it; the movie is a little intense but maybe it's worth a try. Action movies are not the best way to critique an actor but this movie appears to have a different tone from him I hadn't seen before, maybe you'll see it too.

Can't lie, I like the dumb blond goof Hemsworth plays in 90% of his non-Marvel appearences. Men in Black was awful, but it wasn't his fault.

And 2016 Ghostbusters was a lot of fun. Fight me.

I have heard about it and I do like some good shoot'em up type movies, ala Die Hard, but Hemsworth being Hemsworth it hasn't been on the top of my Must Watch List. :rommie:

They were both awful and hours of my life I will never get back. I honestly can't decide which of those two is worse. Probably agree with you on MIB, there were at least a few scenes in Ghostbusters I laughed at.

With the current socio-economic climate (Thanks COVID-19!) I can't see another Trek film being released until 2024 or later, and due to that chasm of time before us, it will likely be a reboot.
If I had to guess, they will be rebooting Star Trek:TNG in film form.

I still believe a reboot is not necessary. DISCO can step right in and take the mantle of the movies.

Is it popular enough to deliver the goods though? I doubt it. Maybe if it has a really good run of a few more seasons and it's popularity gathers some momentum

I doubt it will ever garner the renown of its predecessors for as long as it’s on CBSAA. Since that’s not likely to ever change, considering it’s their flagship show and the primary reason most viewers have that particular streaming service, don’t see it happening.

Hope he has better luck under the knife than that other sexy, young blond actor who got old...Robert Redford
If one wants to look great when you age, inject copious amounts of melanin in your skin and hope the police don't shoot you.

I like the choice to hire Hawley to write and direct since it’ll be nice to get a fresh creative take. However, I’m surprised the Kelvin crew is returning since Paramount and CBS are united again. Although I like the Kelvin crew, I wish there was going to be more connection between the TV shows and movies.

I'm new here but I just think of kelven as an OVA I like. I can see several ways they could align with main trek cannon if they really wanted to assuming they get some writers lie simon pegg who are good ST fans and know the universe.

I honestly don't have no idea whether DISCO is popular or not, but it is Star Trek and there's an audience who's watching the episodes. The budget for DISCO is expensive and whatever they're doing could be transitioned to the big screen. I don't JJ Abrams needed momentum when he rebooted the franchise, I don't think DISCO needs the same. If the movie is good, the people will come, but at least DISCO has at least a head start in character development and just move on to theatres. It seems the producers' interests are to develop a movie-type feel to their stories instead of an episodic structure.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against it as I just want more big screen trek come what may. I'm sure the fans would turn out for a disco movie but is that enough? I'm not so sure yet. I think it needs a couple of real killer seasons that propel the show forward first.
