Earth
StarFleet Command
San Francisco

The various News Media outlets scurried about for any real new information regarding the Klingons, and their approaching fleet. The citizens of Earth had gone, in a real short time, from a society that had no idea about galactic events to, what some were calling, a center of them. In three short years there had been the near destruction of Earth by the VGR phenomenon. A nearly two years later, the Borg Assimilation fleet appeared, just outside the solar system, and was, for now, in a non threatening state.

Then new information came out, due to leaks at Starfleet, about an approaching Klingon Fleet. Not much was known of the violent warrior race known as the Klingons. The only contact between the Earth and Klingons came during the VGR scare when two Klingon vessels joined the armada to confront the strange plasma field from space. The Klingon ships, as well as the rest of the fleet, made up of various ships from the Federation as well, were all destroyed; except for the original Enterprise.

But that was all in the past. Now, if news reports were to have been believed, the Klingons were on their way to destroy the dormant Borg Assimilation fleet that remained outside of the Earth’s system. Many feared that such an attack could wake the Borg up, and Earth would be attacked.

As McCoy, Garrison and McGarrett entered the command Ops center at the Starfleet Command complex, they were not surprised to find it abuzz with activity. The three men had come to Ops so as to send a signal to Kirk about the interesting facts surrounding the strange letter in McCoy’s possession. But to their displeasure, they were told that Starfleet had lost contact with the Enterprise for some unknown reason. With no other reason to remain in Ops, the three left the very busy command center and headed toward the exit.

“What now?” Garrison asked McGarrett.

“Nothing, for now,” McGarrett replied to both of them. “Without any real facts to go on, I’m going to let you handle the situation with the letter as you best see fit.” McGarrett told McCoy. “But I will tell you this,” McGarrett added. “Lloyd Denue is a name I am very aware of. His family has been very involved with the politics of America for many decades.”

“Yes, I know,” McCoy said. “It was once said that no laws were passed in that part of Georgia, and even the states that surrounded it, unless the Denue family approved of them.”

“Exactly,” McGarrett said. “That kind of power, in my experience, doesn’t just fade away. When I get back to my office, I’ll look into Lloyd’s past, but for now, you’re on your own with this.”

“Thanks,” McCoy said.

And with that McGarrett shook their hands, and headed off in a different direction.

“So what do we do now?” Garrison asked.

Suddenly McCoy’s old style cellphone chirped.

“You still have one of those?” Garrison asked as McCoy withdrew the device from his slacks.

“Hey,” McCoy said with a grin on his face, “my adopted dad still had a VCR when he died. Don’t knock the old tech; it can still work if given a chance.”

McCoy began to speak into the phone, and as the conversation progressed, Nigel Garrison could tell that the news was highly unexpected.

“What’s happened?” Garrison said as McCoy closed the cellphone, with a blank expression on his face.

“Torsha, and her husband,” McCoy said, “are dead. Some kind of terrible traffic accident.”

It was once said that the course of rivers could be changed with a sudden earthquake; the same was true about life; and McCoy’s family dynamics had just taken such a turn.

Khan.jpg

From Hell's Heart

Khan Noonien Singh was a tragic figure, or so, that was how he thought of himself. As he sat in an office area that looked out over a couple dozen or so Cryogenic-modules, each one containing an augmented human template, he thought about his life and how it had gone so terribly wrong. It was easy to think about one’s past when the darkness of their surroundings was the only companion. Though it wasn’t really a complete darkness, to be sure, with each module’s control panel flashing the occasional red and yellow light. But for all intents and purposes, Khan was alone; alone in the dark and waiting. Waiting like the mother hen waited for its eggs to hatch.

He thought of his wife’s face, and his son’s smile. He loved them both so very much, and wanted so badly to hold them each again. It had been nearly three years since he had seen them. But each time his heart filled with love, for his family, Khan picked up a knife and fought back the urge to kill himself. Life would win out, and instead of killing himself, he would prick his left for arm, causing a slight gash. He liked to watch the blood trickle down his arm and on to table he sat at. The wound would heal, and leave yet another scar, but Khan would feel content. There were many such tiny scars on his arms, and legs; born from the many moments of contentment.

Because, even though he loved his wife and child, and cherished the memories he had of them, Khan knew he wasn’t really Khan Noonien Singh at all. John Gill had kidnapped the real Khan, and after killing him, Gill had Khan’s memories implanted into a human template that would eventually be an exact duplicate of the now dead Khan.

The new Khan accepted this fact; that he was nothing more than a carbon copy of the real man, the real husband and real father, with memories of a life he had never really lived. Gill had promised Khan that his memories of a wife and child that weren’t really his would eventually fade away; but Gill lied. The memories, the other man’s memories, still remained, and felt very real. Whatever method Gill used to transfer the memories of the real Khan worked, but worked almost too perfectly; they also transferred emotional residue of the dead man’s life.

By now, Khan realized, his faux wife and child must have been told the truth; that the man pretending to be Khan Noonien Singh was just a body with a face that resembled their husband’s, their father’s, face; just an imposter. Khan would never be able to return to his family; a family that was never really his. He reached for the knife again.

And yet for this Khan, this other Khan, he was the real father/husband in every way that mattered; except for the fact that this Khan was also a cold blooded killer. In the few short weeks he had shared a home with the woman and child who believed him to be someone he wasn’t; he almost killed them, pushed on by some unknown reason. Yet, he was able to control his rage, and the inner demons that taunted his soul, and he had not killed them; though he was more than capable of doing so.

But he was pretty confident, that on this day, had they suddenly came into the office he was now sitting in, alone and in the dark, he would have killed them both by using the knife in his hand to slice their heads off. Khan shook his head, and forced himself to let go of that now distant past as another trickle of blood came down his arm.

It had taken him sometime, but Khan had found his back way to Gill’s secret lair, which was beneath an abandoned church near Rota Spain. It was in this same complex that a human template, really nothing more than a human body with a blank mind, had been molded into shape of Khan, thanks to DNA retro-scanning and illegal cloning technology. And, as it turned out, Khan wasn’t the only one. For even though John Gill’s plans of world conquest had died with him, he had left behind nearly fifty human templates; or as they were called, augments. They were to have been used to carry out Gill’s dream of world domination by becoming its rulers and leaders.

The last thing anyone knew about Khan, in outside world, was when Gary Mitchell saw him aboard the Romulan vessel that was trying to abstract a Remnant from the atmosphere of Neptune (SAVVY readers will remember that.). Khan had aided the Romulans in their capture of Gary Mitchell. The Romulans needed Gary Mitchell, who himself, was a being who had been spawned from Neptune and contained unique properties to his being that would lure the other Remnants into this reality, and if the Romulans were correct, could then be harnessed to destroy the Borg.

But Gary Mitchell freed himself, and destroyed the Romulan vessel, but not (please follow this link to continue...)

Roller Coaster

Edith Keeler was having fun, and why not? Sure, the circumstances were serious enough, serious in that, at any moment, the shuttlecraft she had been inside could have, at any moment, been utterly pummeled by an unseen chuck of rock in space, causing a tear in the small vessel’s hull, killing all onboard. But who cared about that when so much fun was to be had?

The wave of time-distortions that Spock was maneuvering the shuttle through were playing havoc with the ship’s anti-gravity fields. The lack of consistent gravity turned what otherwise would have been a peaceful trip into something more resembling of a roller-coaster ride; and that was why Edith felt like a teenager at an amusement park. She had always loved the thrills she enjoyed back in her youth, when going to Six-Flags with her family and friends to ride the new roller-coasters was an annual summer vacation event. But it was obvious that Jim Kirk didn’t like the shuttle’s gravity issues; at all.

Kirk was bundled up in the passenger’s front seat in a fetal position, even wearing a beanie to conceal the nervous sweat on his ample head of hair, as Spock expertly piloted the ship through the waves with the occasional bump and lurch along the way. Edith Keeler half suspected that Spock enjoyed torturing Jim Kirk, with a few extra divots here and there.

“I don’t believe it; look at you Jim,” Edith said with a laugh as the shuttle suddenly experienced a dip, even though, in space, there had been no such thing, “you’re a Starship captain! You should love this kind of shit. Don’t be so scared.”

Kirk looked at her, with his injured puppy dog looking eyes.

“I’m not scared,” Kirk said, trying to look brave, “Besides,” Kirk added, “you shouldn’t have stowed away on board the way you did. You may have lived a longer life if you had stayed back on the Enterprise. And as for me, I am not space sick; I just made the mistake of having some of Guinan’s Texas Chili earlier, that’s all.”

Spock looked at him.

“Really,” Spock said, “I’ve been with you most of the last seventeen hours and I don’t recall you ever going down to 10-Forward.”

Spock’s eyes were peppered with “gotcha” all over them.

“Oh, I went,” Kirk replied. “When you were with Scotty earlier, and I was giving I’lanti the tour of the ship.”

“That’s odd,” Spock said, “Guinan later told me that when you came into 10-Forward, you were only there for two minutes at the most.”

“I’m a quick eater,” Kirk added quickly.

“Jim,” Edith said, “why did you leave I’lanti in command of the Enterprise instead of your friend Gary? I mean, I know he’s an asshole at times, but…”

“Didn’t you just love the look in Cartwright’s eyes when I did that?” Kirk interrupted with the rhetoric question.

“He did not seem ...(to continue this story, please follow this link..and thanks!)

The Time May Come

Above all else, she hated the darkness. The silence, and utter isolation, was easy enough to deal with, but the darkness wasn’t. She had always been afraid of the dark as a child, and had thought she had outgrown the fear, but she hadn’t; the fear was still there. But, at least, she was still alive.

Nor’vra was unsure of how she had come to be in the darkness that surrounded her, but again, at least she was alive. But where was she? Who had gone through so much effort without killing her? Nor’vra could only come up with one answer; she was still needed. She no doubt possessed knowledge that would, at a later time, be asked for. This meant that Nor’vra had leverage, and a chance to live through whatever fate would unfold. All she had to was deal with the darkness, and her childhood fear of it. Somehow, someway, she knew she would. She was Nor’vra; Praetor to the Romulan people.

Two red tail hawks glided over the skies of Moscow Russia, zigzagging, almost as if playing a strange game of cat and mouse. Ever so often, their chase became aggressive, and at other times it was without incident; just simple gliding. Finally, the two birds banked up to the left, just over the dome of the Kremlin, and began their ascent and, then, up and over the Ominos complex, and through the window of a penthouse office suit at the top. The two birds landed on the marble floor of the suit, and waited for the window to shut.

The birds began to liquefy and grow in mass.

“You flight ability has improved,” Laas told his companion, Laniya.

“The Great Link that I know,” Laniya, “has lost such passion as you have shown me.”

“As I have told you,” Laas said to her, “where I come from, passion was required.”

“Things have changed,” Laniya said softly.

“Which is why,” Laas said as he walked over to the large window and looked out over the city of Moscow below, “we must be successful in what we do. Very soon I shall start parceling out the knowledge that the humans will need to achieve the second part of our plan; the creation of the Borg.”

“We must becareful,” Laniya said to Laas. “The Founder I told you about, Odo, was on this world, and has been here for over a hundred of their years.”

“If the one you call Odo is still on this world,” Laas said, with a tinge of anger in his voice, “then he will either join us or (please follow this link to continue the story)

The 19th Century will be a sidebar to some degree. It all stems from McCoy's plot. There is something very valuable beneath that mansion his adopted mother lived in. And 'what that something is' orginated from what happened in the 19th century.

Whirlwind --
Part One

“Listen to me; all of you.” I’lanti said, as he sat in the command chair on the bridge of the USS Enterprise. “I have lost many centurions to these savages; the Klingons. They are ruthless warriors, and if they board this ship, they will kill everyone onboard.”

“Legionis,” Acanthus added as he walked near the main viewing screen, “Perhaps they should know the entirety of Klingon savagery.” Acanthus looked over at Uhura first, “they will rape every woman aboard this ship, as they use their Bat’leths to hack every man to pieces. Once they have had their way with your women, then they will hack them to shreds too; that is their way,” Acanthus said with a wide sinister grin.

“With all due respect,” Sulu said from the helm, “but we have all taken and passed Starfleet’s martial arts classes. We would not be aboard this ship unless we had.”

I’lanti looked sternly at Sulu.

“Trust me, helmsman Sulu” I’lanti said to Sulu, “the Terran fighting methods you call martial arts will not save you here. The Mok'bara, the way of the warrior, is not just a fighting technique to the Klingons; it is their way of life. Earth hasn’t seen barbarians this savage in over five-thousand years.”

“If I recall,” Commander Gary Mitchell said, standing next to the science station along the upper-ring of the bridge, “the Roman Empire fell long before the Huns over ran Europe from the East; they were quite savage warriors as well, and yet, like Rome, human history selected them to fall by the wayside. Now, as for the Klingons, we will have to make sure they don’t get aboard.”

Acanthus, I’lanti’s first officer, when aboard the Romulan flagship, could only scoff at Mitchell’s confidence.

“How do you suppose we can manage such a fete,” Acanthus said, “without your shields?”

Acanthus’s words were true. The Enterprise was still operating, but only on its emergency battery. The main systems were down due to the effects of the time-distortion waves; which Kirk and his landing party had left the Enterprise to try and stop. (Of course SAVVY readers know that Kirk is now fighting to stay alive in America’s CIVIL WAR. Star Trek: The 19th Century).

“It was foolish to leave my Romulan fleet behind,” I’lanti said.

“For all we know,” young Ens. Wesley Crusher said from the navigation station, which was situated next to Sulu’s post, “your fleet may have been rendered defenseless by the time-distortions as well.”

“How long will it be until the Klingons enter this system?” I’lanti asked.

“Thirty minutes,” Sulu replied, after checking his consol.

Suddenly, and without warning, all the main systems started to come back on line. One by one, each bridge post came to life. As the bridge’s complex components came to life, so did the return of the various electronic sounds as well.

Mitchell smiled.

“It sounds like a Vegas casino,” Mitchell said, as they all welcomed the sounds of the bridge.

“It would appear as if your captain was successful” I’lanti said, “Give me a complete status report; first officer!”

Acanthus was about to head over to the ops station on the bridge, but Gary Mitchell had beaten him there.

“We have full power on the engines, and weapons,” Gary announced.

“Bring the weapons on line,” I’lanti said to Sulu.

“Aye sir,” Sulu replied.

Commander Mitchell came down to the command chair where I’lanti stood.

“Sir,” Mitchell said, “wouldn’t it be wiser to try and talk with the Klingons first.”

The Turbo-lift doors opened and Secretary of State Pike, as well as Admiral Cartwright and Commodore Rabou, came on to the bridge.

“No,” I’lanti said Mitchell, “your Captain put me in command. I am telling you that the Klingons will fire the first show; it is their way.”

“For once; I agree,” Admiral Cartwright said. “I assume all the weapons are on line?”

Sulu didn’t answer, remembering the crash course of protocol that I’lanti had announced the moment Kirk had left. All statements would go through the first officer, Gary Mitchell in this instance, and then to I’lanti.

Gary Mitchell, fighting his own impulse to respond to Cartwright, addressed I’lanti as well.

“Legionis,” Mitchell said, “all weapons have been brought on line, and are now armed.”

I’lanti was actually quite impressed with the Earthlings, and their ability to follow orders. I’lanti stood up and walked over to where Pike, Cartwright and Robau stood.

“This ship,” I’lanti told them, “is ready for battle.”

“Legionis I’lanti,” Pike said, “I understand the strategy at play here. But don’t forget that we,” Pike said, “meaning the plant Earth, have no ill will towards the Klingons. They actually contributed three of their own ships during the VGR incident; and all three of them were destroyed. Lets not ruin any goodwill with what is about to take place.”

Cartwright looked to Pike.

“Sir,” Commodore Rabou said, “Although we are new to the Federation, and Starfleet, I have had enough time to examine all tactics used by the Klingons, as compiled by Starfleet. The Legionis’s tactics are very wise in this matter.”

“The Klingons,” Acanthus said, with his strong baritone voice, as he came over to where I’lanti stood, “have three ships in their fleet. I promise you, one of these ships has been given the designation of B’atlh.”

“Meaning what?” Pike asked.

I’lanti took over.

“The ship that is designated B’atlh is manned by a crew of older Klingon warriors,” I’lanti explained. “These older Klingons face the possibility that they may not die in battle; for a Klingon there is no greater insult than to not die in battle.”

Pike looked to Cartwright, then back to Legionis I’lanti.

“If we fire on the Klingons first,” Pike said to I’lanti, “we may provoke a war with them.”

“No,” I’lanti said, “you will dishonor the Klingons by not attacking the B’atlh.”

“Sirs,” Sulu said, as looked at the new readings on his consol, “one of the Klingon ships has broken formation, and is accelerating towards us.”

“The B’atlh,” Acanthus warned.

I’lanti, his eyes still locked with Pike’s, issued an order.

“Prepare for battle, and lock all weapons on that ship,” I’lanti said to Sulu, while staring at Pike. And then I’lanti turned to face Sulu, “You will fire when I give the order. Concentrate your fire the starboard engine’s lower third section; a weakness that I believe your advanced weapons can take advantage of.”

“I hope you’re right,” Pike said from behind I’lanti.

The main viewing screen showed the approaching Klingon vessel.

Whirlwind
Part Two

The giant Klingon D7 battlecruiser closed in on the Enterprise’s position. Legionis I’lanti sat in the command chair on the bridge of the famed starship, as Acanthus, his mentor, stood to his left, and Commander Gary Mitchell stood to his right.

“The Klingon ship will be in range in two minutes,” Lt. Sulu reported.

“Prepare to fire,” I’lanti began to say to Sulu, “at the area of the Klingon ship I instructed earlier.”

“Yes sir,” Sulu said, his voice giving off an air of doubt.

“Legionis,” Mitchell said, as he watched Sulu double checking his weapons lock, “our sensors detect no weakness in the Klingon ship’s shields, at least none in that area of the ship,” Mitchell offered. He had offered the same warning, worded differently of course, only moments earlier.

“If this were a Romulan vessel I would have you executed for questioning my command for the second time,” I’lanti said. “Now; would it be too hard to ask you and your crew to follow Kirk’s orders and follow my commands?”

Admiral Cartwright and Commodore Rabou sat silently at two unused bridge stations near the back. Cartwright wanted so much to intervene, but the ship was Kirk’s, and I’lanti had been put in command. Cartwright’s hands were tied in the matter.

There was silence as the bridge crew seemed to get the meaning; it was time to do exactly as Kirk had ordered, and follow the command of the Romulan.

“Sixty seconds,” Sulu said, as the seconds counted down.

--
The USS Voyager was in not pursuit of three Gorn vessels, and as they closed in on the slower vessels, it became clear why the Gorns had left orbit of the planet. A strange glowing object was speeding away from the planet as well.

“What is that? Is that the source of the time distortion waves?” Ens. Kim asked, in awe of what he saw.

“Yes ensign,” Tuvok replied, “It is an Omega Particle, or as others call them, a Remnant.” Tuvok said.

“How can you be sure?” Janeway asked from her command chair.

“You will recall,” Tuvok said, “it was the strange temporal readings that led us to the uncharted world we just left, and where we first came upon the Gorn transferring some unknown object down to the planet. Now, if you will recall, two years ago when the Romulan vessel exploded in orbit of Neptune (an event SAVVY readers recall happened sometime back) Earth monitored the same kind of temporal readings, if only momentarily. The Romulans, at that time, were…”

Janeway continued for Tuvok.

“The Romulans had captured Commander Mitchell,” Janeway recalled, “and were using him to lure others of his kind out from their isolation on in Neptune’s atmosphere, but it didn’t work.” Janeway said. “Where is this one heading in such a hurry?”

Tuvok checked his readings.

“The Remnant is on a precise heading for one of the Klingon vessels. Its unique properties are also jamming our communications, so we have no way of warning the Klingons.”

“Can the Klingons see us on their sensors?” Commander Paris asked. “Three Gorn ships are no match for one Klingon D7 cruiser, let alone three.”

“I think we may have more of a problem than just pure ship numbers,” Tuvok said. “The Klingons do indeed register the Gorn, and Voyager I might add, on their sensors. The other two Klingon ships have changed course and are heading directly for the Gorn ships.”

“We should back off,” Janeway said, “No reason for us to get in the middle of this. We’ll go assist the Enterprise with the Klingon ship harassing it.”

“Captain,” Tuvok said suddenly, “I am detecting the same temporal anomaly aboard one of the two Klingon ships heading in our direction.”

“Another Remnant is aboard that ship?” Janeway asked.

“It would appear so,” Tuvok replied.

Ens. Harry Kim asked the most obvious question on everyone’s mind.

“What will happen if both Remnants come into contact with each other?” Kim asked.

“Raise the Gorn commander,” Janeway said, “We’ve got to warn them to change course. There’s no telling what will happen if those two Remnants should come into (continue reading by following this LINK..and thanks)

Family Past

The Kincaid mansion

Leonard McCoy stood outside the Kincaid mansion. The mansion been a major part of McCoy’s life for most of his life; Kincaid was his home, the place he had been raised in from the time his own parents had been unfortunately killed in a traffic accident not long after he had been born. In fact, he had luckily survived the very same crash, which, at times, he regretted.

But, in the past, whenever Leonard McCoy would feel depressed about surviving the crash, his adoptive mother, Gretchen Bennett, wouldn’t have it. She, and her husband Wilbur, would give McCoy stern lectures about life; how other people in the world faced even harder challenges and had found ways to make it. McCoy wasn’t the only person who had lost his parents in life, and wouldn’t be the last. God worked in mysterious ways, they would tell him, but God had his own reasons for doing things his way.

“Go to hell God,” McCoy said softly as he looked at the large wood carving above the main entrance that depicted Christ’s crucifixion. “My family believed in you and look where it got them; their all dead.”

McCoy was now alone; again. Gretchen and Wilbur were gone. Not only were they gone, but so were Torsha Bennett and her husband, Allison Jackson. Although he didn’t get along with Torsha, who was his adoptive sister, he never wished death upon her. She and Allison had perished, ironically enough, in a car crash. The driver of the limousine had apparently been drinking, and had lost control of the vehicle. (SAVVY readers know that they were actually killed by Laas.)

With Lt. Commander Nigel Garrison recalled due to some new emergency, and Kirk unable to be contacted, McCoy was now left wondering what would happen next. Upon returning to Legrange, McCoy returned the sealed letter, meant for Kirk, to the law office, as required. With that done, he came to the mansion to reflect on the past.

Yellow tape had been setup on the main entrance to the mansion. The county clerk had been ordered to barricade the entrance until James T Kirk had returned and implemented the instructions in the sealed letter. How Kirk, of all people, figured into it all was still mystery. If Kirk had indeed been back in the past, and fought in the Civil War (which is happening in STAR TREK: THE 19th Century) how did he get back there? How would Kirk get back? What was Kirk’s connection to General George Kincaid?

Suddenly the sound of a vehicle came from behind McCoy and he turned around to see who it was. A newer model Solar Powered SUV came down the long gravel pathway that led in from the main road beyond the trees, and then stopped near the main driveway. The doors to the vehicle opened and two people got out. McCoy recognized one of them immediately; she was his ex-wife Jocelyn.

Jocelyn and Leonard McCoy had been divorced for nearly ten years, and the years had been kind to her. He long flowing blond hair, and her subtle beauty, still made her very attractive. McCoy’s life long battle with alcohol had claimed their marriage; one of many things his addiction had cost him. And as Jocelyn came closer to him, the other person came around the backside of the car. It was a beautiful young teenaged girl, and McCoy’s heart dropped when he realized who she was; it was his daughter Joanna. She was (please follow this LINK to continue the McCoy family reunion..and more!)

Note from Robert Scorpio..

In the spin off story, The 19th Century, very important events are happening that will soon be affecting this story; mainly the introduction of a Changeling and "who" on Earth he is looking for. It is all connected to McCoy--Lloyd Denue and even Laas, in the Moscow wing of the story. Read part one *link* and it will set up part two and the startling revelation to come!!!

Absolute

(a word from SCORPIO; this “chapter” is being “simucasted” for both the 19th and 21st Century stories. It is very important and so that no one who is reading this story misses it, I am publishing it in both story lines…sorry if the double post comes off as too much...)

James T Kirk and Edith Keeler were at a loss for words. The ride from the saloon to Kincaid’s estate took close to an hour, and the carriage was escorted by two armed guards. When the ride came to an end, Kirk and Edith were both surprised to see what the destination was; the home where McCoy had been raised from the time he was a child. It had totally slipped Kirk’s mind that McCoy had told him that the mansion was called the Kincaid estate. And now, that Kirk was in the past, in the home that one day would have a young Leonard McCoy running through it, it all made some kind of since; or did it.

“You have been here?” Spock asked, upon seeing the expressions on Kirk’s and Edith’s faces.

“Yes,” Edith said, “In the future, in our time, this home belonged to Dr. McCoy’s adoptive mother. This is where he was raised, from the time he was a baby I think.”

Spock looked to Kirk, almost as if he needed verification.

“She’s right,” Kirk told Spock. “McCoy’s parents were killed in a tragic accident, and he was adopted by a woman named Gretchen Bennett. She, and her husband, both descended from families that had ancestors that were part of this estate. And as the story goes, as best as I can remember, Kincaid built this place, and upon his death, let the slaves care for the home. And so, through the decades, it was handed down from family to family.”

“Weren’t you supposed to go with him for the reading of the will?” Edith asked.

“Yes, I was,” Kirk replied, “Until we beamed up to the Enterprise and got wrapped up in the whole deal with the Klingons and I’lanti.”

Spock shook his head, conveying an air of disbelief.

“Jim,” Spock finally said, “the odds that we were randomly brought to this point of time are increasing beyond control. I now believe we were brought here for a specific purpose and that the theory that time can be traveled just as a ship sails across the water, with help from unseen currents, is true.”

“Are you a poet now? What are you saying,” Edith asked, “that our being here, my nearly being raped by that mad man, are all part of God’s plan.”

“No,” Spock replied, “there are no deities involved here at all Ms. Keeler. All I am saying is that there is more going on here than,” Spock searched for the right phrase, “meets the eye.”

“Or it’s the work of God,” Edith protested.

“I didn’t think you believed in God,” Kirk said with a teasing smile.

“I don’t,” Edith said, “but when I was about to whipped by that man, I prayed, and,” she paused to stop her self from crying, “I was saved.”

Kirk held her hand in his; trying to absorb the pain she felt.

--
Moments later the three travelers from the 21st Century were brought into the mansion. With the soldiers still guarding them, it had been decided by Kirk and the others to limit all conversation about being from the future. The soldiers escorting them seemed to be well mannered, and very respectful of Edith being a woman. A kindly black woman, in her fifties at least, brought them a change of clothing and took their clothes to be washed.

Edith, still distraught from the day’s events, was escorted to one of the many room, where and, after a bath alone in solitude, she found comfort on the large bed in the center of the room. Kirk sat by her side and smiled at her beauty as her eyes, being as tired as they were, closed and she found sleep. Content that she was safe from harm, Kirk returned downstairs.

Kirk found Mr. Spock looking at the collection of art that decorated the wall of the main den.

“I never fancied Vulcan’s appreciating human artwork,” Kirk said, as he entered the den.

“Do not forget, Jim Kirk,” Spock replied, “I am half human. Vulcan art, at least the Vulcan art from my universe, was usually pornographic and featured multiples of women engaged in sexual acts with each other. The art of this world, your Earth, is very interesting, and far more intelligent.”

“You know,” Kirk said to Spock, “you should think about visiting the Vulcan of this universe. The Sarek and Amanda from this universe are very interesting and complex. And don’t forget that they lost a son to that other universe, and I am quite sure they would be very interested in meeting you.”

“I am not here to replace their son,” Spock said, in a cold tone.

“I know,” Kirk said, “maybe the thought of meeting them frightens you.” Kirk said it that way as subtle challenge.

“I fear nothing,” Spock said quickly. “Your attempt at subterfuge will not increase the odds of my deciding to meet them or not.”

“Aha,” Kirk said, “at least I have you thinking about it.”

“I always found the human ability to find meaning in simple words most entertaining,” Spock countered.

Before Kirk could respond to Spock’s words, General George Kincaid came into the den, and then shut the door, and locked it, leaving the three of them alone in the room.

“Welcome to my home,” Kincaid said to Kirk and Spock, “I quite imagine that you two have questions to ask. However, before we start, I must ask you a question first.”

“Go right ahead,” Kirk said.

“Would you like some bourbon?” Kincaid said with a smile.

Kirk replied with his own smile.

“That would be nice,” Kirk said.

Kincaid walked over to the small liquor cabinet and took out a bottle of bourbon. He poured only two glasses.

“I won’t bother pouring you a glass,” Kincaid said to Spock “You’re a Vulcan.”

“Actually,” Spock replied, “I am half human, and hail from a Universe where Vulcan Ale is known to be one of the most powerful drinks in the galaxy.”

“Is it blue?” Kirk asked.

“Red,” Spock replied.

Kincaid motioned for them to sit on one of the large couches, and then he handed them their glasses. They each took a drink, letting the warmth of the liquid drain down their throats.

“Very nice,” Kirk said.

“Thank you,” Kincaid said, enjoying his own glass too.

“Now, please,” Kirk finally said, “who are you and what is going on? How did you know my friend was a Vulcan?”

“Let me show you something first,” Kincaid said, as he stood up.

At first nothing happened, and then Kirk and Spock watched as Kincaid shape shifted into an owl and then a mouse and then (to continue, PLEASE follow this link)

STAR TREK
THE 19th and 21st Century...

Where things are....

There is one more episode of the 19th century to come...the finale. We will learn that Kirk/Spock/Edith Keeler lived for five years in the 19th century, unable to leave the 19th century until late 1868. Five years is a long time, and we will find out that much happened to them....

General Kincaid, as revealed in the current issue, is a Founder; shapeshifter. He knows of Laas (the shapeshifter who killed Chekov and is using Ominos tech to create a specific kind of Borg to control all other solids with.) Kincaid, who knows much of the future as well (he is the 19th century, but knows of events to come) can not stop Laas directly. But due to a major up-coming event, the Founders will feel responsible for what is to happen, because it will be caused by Laas. And while they can not change what is to come, they can try their best to save humanity; and the human salvation is a man named Benjamin Sisko.

But, in all stories, there is a wildcard, and this story is no different; the wildcard is Khan.

Borg, Prophets, Remants, Founders, Romulans, Kirk, Laas; everything they are doing can be upset by one man's hopes of revenge. And Khan will be serving his dish very soon, and it is very cold, in space.

Vodka; one or two shots?

Putin International Medical Center
Moscow Russia

If there was one thing Mikiel Chekov hated, it was being treated like a child. Yes, he smoked cigarettes; even though he shouldn’t. Yes, he drank Vodka every night, just as every Muscovite was supposed to do. And yes, with his heart condition, sex with younger women was probably not the best thing for him to do; but he didn’t care. He was Mikiel Chekov, hero to the Russian people, and living his life on the edge was expected of him.

His wife, Tamara, didn’t really care about her husband’s wild ways; it was part of the attraction she felt for him. And as she sat next to her husband, as he was lying beneath the blankets of his hospital bed, she could only smile at him. It didn’t bother her that, at their large mansion, he was having sex with the two very youthful female masseuses, Tamara was secretly thankful. At her age, some of the things that Mikiel like to do in the bed just didn’t appeal to her anymore, and were far too physical for her to do anyway. As long as his heart was with her, that was all that mattered.

“Did you hear the doctor, did you even listen to her?” Tamara asked.

Before Mikiel could answer, Sarek and McGarrett, as well as Nadya and Pavel (who SAVVY readers know is actually Laas) reentered the room. The four of them stood silently near the entrance as Tamara continued her lecture.

“Yes, mama, I did,” Mikiel replied, “I did hear her; I’m not a child.”

“Dr. Crusher,” Tamara continued, “came all the way from Starfleet to do these tests. So when she tells you to stop smoking; you stop smoking. When she tells you to stop drinking; you stop. As for the young women, you must slow down there too.”

Mikiel was embarrassed about that little piece of info being mentioned.

“What are you talking about,” Mikiel said with a forced laugh.

“Papa,” Nadya said as she came to her father’s bedside, and knelt down, “Why didn’t you tell us how bad things were.”

“Yes papa,” Pavel said, as he too came to his father’s bedside. “We have a right to know; we’re your children.”

Mikiel smiled inside. Nadya’s worry was expected, but to see Pavel the way he was, was a pleasant surprise.

“Ah,” Mikiel said, as he looked at the other two guests, “Steve McGarrett, and Ambassador Sarek. It is good to see the both of you again.”

“That last round of golf we played,” McGarrett said with a smile, as he came over to the bed and stood closer to Mikiel, “as I recall, you and Pike still owe me and Frank Cannon dinner. So, you can’t check out on us now without owning up to that dinner.”

“You cheated,” Mikiel replied with fake anger, “we all know that you marked that par as a birdie.”

“No,” McGarrett retorted, “it was your silly Russian education failing you again; you can’t add.”

Tamara stood up and shook the hand of Ambassador Sarek.

“You look well,” Tamara said, “much better than the last time we saw you at the dinner in Copenhagen.” Tamara said as she looked at Sarek’s waistline. “Have you been using that Potato Soup recipe I gave you?”

“I have indeed,” Sarek replied warmly. “Amanda makes it at least once a week.”

“How is she doing?” Tamara asked.

“Much better,” Sarek said. “She would be here now, and she sends her wishes. Her presence was required back on Vulcan, so she left earlier today.”

“These people,” Nadya said suddenly, “have come a long way to make sure you are treated properly. They brought Dr. Crusher with them because they love you like your family does. Now you do as mama said, and cut back on the silly behaviors of yours. I won’t have it!”

“You sound like your mother,” Mikiel said.

“Nadya’s right,” Pavel interjected. “Papa,” Pavel said, “you are not, as they say, young chicken any more.”

As Laas spoke his words, pretending to be Pavel Chekov, he so wanted to reach out and snap Mikiel’s neck, due to Mikiel’s spiteful words about Nor’vra (who was really another Founder/changeling named Laniya).

“I thank you,” Mikiel said to Nadya, “I want to thank all of you, for being concerned about my health issues. But please,” Mikiel added, “I can not live my life like one of those people you see hanging on to life simply because that’s all they have.”

“Oh papa, we’re not telling you to stop,” Tamara said, “we’re just asking you to slow down. Instead of two Vodkas in your bed,” everyone knew that Tamara was substituting the word Vodka for girl, “how about just one. Or better yet, how about a nice book and a warm cup of milk instead.”

“I like Vodka,” Mikiel said softly, fully aware of what they were talking about, “If I can’t have Vodka ..(to continue with this chapter, please follow his link, and thanks)

One Time too Many

In the 19th Century

And so it would that James Kirk, Edith Keeler and Spock would reluctantly, at first, spend five years of their lives in Legrange Georgia; in the 1860s. In those five years, many things happened, some important, some just run of the mill. Here is a brief recap of happened in those five years.

Nov 13 1864—Kirk, Spock, Edith arrive in the 19th century

Nov 15 1864—Kirk Spock, Edith make contact with General George Kincaid It is learned by Kirk/Spock/Edith that General Kincaid is a Founder/
Changeling. Kirk/others will remain at Kincaid mansion for five
Years, until a window opens up and Kincaid can send them back
to the 21st Century.

Nov 25 1864 After settling in, Kincaid reveals to K/S that although he is a General in the Confederate Army, he is secretly passing on vital information on to the North. K/S agree to be two his couriers and will actively assist with transferring tactical info.

Dec 19 1864 K/S are instrumental in getting vital strategic information sent to Maj. Gen Sherman. Spock is injured and nearly killed during a run in with Native-Americans. The Native-American’s realize Spock’s unique appearance, and render assistance and save his life.

Feb 12 1865—Edith Keeler become a teacher at a local school that caters to the orphaned children of the war. She and Kirk are becoming closer and their flirtatious behavior continues.

March 30 1865—Knowing the eventual fate of his hero Abraham Lincoln (Lincoln’s death is just two weeks away,) Kirk ponders the possibility of saving Lincoln’s life.

April 7 1865—Lincoln’s assassination is a week away, and Kirk, against Kincaid’s advice, heads off via horseback to save the ill fated President.

April 14 1865—Kirk nearly saves the President’s life by trying to thwart Booth’s departure from a small hotel the assassin was staying in before the incident. Kirk prepares to jump Booth, in order to beat him up, but out of nowhere, Spock appears and neck pinches Kirk, thus allowing an unsuspecting John Wilkes Booth to play his important part in the tapestry of American history.

April 20 1865—Despondent in his in ability to save Lincoln, Kirk departs Kincaid’s mansion. Kirk’s anger of Spock is part of the reason, and so Kirk leaves.

June 1 1865—Edith Keeler realizes she is pregnant with Kirk’s child. Spock sets out to find Kirk. Kincaid contacts an old friend, a mountain man named Zebulon Macahan, to assist Spock in tracking down Kirk.

Sept 15 1865—Edith Keeler starts to experience problems with her unborn child. Spock has yet to return with Kirk, and Kincaid fears that both Edith and the child may die. Kincaid calls upon one of the North’s most respected doctors, Katherine Pulaski, to assist in the matter. The doctor is able to save Edith Keeler, and stabilize the pregnancy as well.

Feb 15 1866—Kirk and Spock finally return. Kirk had started a new life as a railroad operator, and had taken the alias of Thomas Hooker. Kirk, realizing he was a fool for wanting to change time, forgives Spock and is very happy to back at Kincaid mansion.

Feb 25 1866—Edith Keeler Gives birth to a beautiful baby girl. Jim Kirk and Edith Keeler, the baby’s parents, agree on a name for their daughter; Caroline. (SAVVY readers will recall that Caroline was Christopher Pike’s sister, and that she was murdered while trying to save baby David Marcus from Sloan and the Attendant.)

Feb 26 1866—Kirk and Keeler are married the very next day.

June 19 1866—Spock returns to the Native American tribe that had first tried to kill him, and then saved him. He had returned to visit the woman who had nursed him back to health two years earlier. Spock and the Native American woman, Miramanee, become romantically involved. Spock decides to stay with the Tribe until it is time to return to the 21st century.

October 1866—Spock and Miramanee are married. Kirk/Edith and Caroline attend, as does Kincaid. It is at that time that Spock (to continue this chapter, please follow this link..and thanks again)

Coming Home

In the 19th Century

Previously;

General George Kincaid was speaking “…I was unaware that traveling through the wormhole had an adverse effect on the stability of my shape changing ability.”

“Is that what we are seeing now?” Kirk asked, referring to Kincaid’s decaying appearance.

“Yes, but that is not all,” Kincaid replied, drinking from his glass again. “While inside the wormhole, that final time, the entities, the Prophets, made contact with me again. And this time they had a dire prediction of the future. It was then that I learned of a special human; The Emissary.”
--
As General Kincaid continued his conversation with Kirk in the 19th century, across the fabric of space and time, and in the 21st century, the President of Earth stood at the podium and spoke to a very nervous world.
--

“People of the planet Earth,” the President began to say, “After meeting with my advisers, I have decided to bring to our collective attention a most dire situation that affects us all.”

As the President was about to continue, the USS Enterprise and three Romulan vessels, as well as the USS Voyager, all entered orbit of Earth.

Commander Gary Mitchell sat in the command chair of the Enterprise as I’lanti had returned to his Romulan flagship, and was sitting in his command chair as well, and was watching the same announcement from the President.

On the bridge of the Enterprise, Uhura stated the obvious.

“The President is about to speak,” Uhura said, in a soft tone.

The face of Earth’s President came on the main screen of the bridge. In fact, throughout the rest of the Enterprise, every monitor displayed the speech. Scotty, who was sitting at the bar in 10 Forward, sat next to Guinan, and they both prepared to hear the news that the Enterprise crew already knew.

“Approximately one day ago,” President Jadhav continued, “there was a massive explosion deep in space. The resulting explosion has caused a rippling affect that is spreading out from the point of the explosion. That explosion, while actually small is visual scope, created a wave in subspace that will get larger as it travels outward. Our most notable scientists, and those of the Federation, believe that this subspace wave will travel through our galaxy, and will destroy every planet with in five light years from the point of the explosion; including ours, before it dissipates.”

Mikiel Chekov sat up higher in his bed, upon hearing what the President had just said. McGarrett looked to Ambassador Sarek.

“Is such a thing possible?” McGarrett asked.

“Theoretically, yes,” Sarek said, “however, very remote.”

“But its happening,” Mikiel said.

Tamara Chekov stared down at her husband, and smiled. The serious tone in her husband’s voice said much more than it didn’t; the world was going to come to an end. The only question was when?

Pavel (Laas) came over to his parents.

“Mama, Papa,” Pavel said, “I must return to Ominos. I’m sure you understand.”

“Go,” Mikiel said. “See to your responsibilities.”

“I should go too,” Nadya added.

“No,” Pavel said. “You stay here.”

“Do you require a car?” McGarrett asked.

Pavel, knowing exactly who and what McGarrett was ( the head of Earth security), smiled and declined.

“No thank you,” Pavel said, “I have my own means of transportation.”

And with that, Pavel left the room. Instead of heading towards the exit, he headed to an adjoining. Once the door was closed to the room, and he was sure he was alone, Pavel shape-shifted into the shape of a red tail hawk and streaked out the open window. Soaring through the sky, as fast as he could, Laas headed towards Ominios. After a five minute flight, and as he always did, he landed on the ledge of his penthouse window on the top floor. Then with out warning, a net closed in around him; he had been captured! And for some strange reason, Laas could not change shape. He was stuck in the shape of a bird. Laas could only wonder why and how.

--
In Legrange Georgia, 21st Century, McCoy, as well as his ex-wife Jocelyn and their daughter Joanna, and Lloyd Denue too, sat inside the massive mansion, having purposely broken through the yellow tape that warned against entry. A battery powered TV had been left on the kitchen table, where they all sat, and had been tuned in on the President’s statement.

McCoy chuckled at what the President had just said.

“Kind of makes breaking past the barrier tape to get in here remote, don’t you think?” McCoy asked Denue.

Lloyd Denue was somewhat subdued. It was clear to McCoy, and the others, that Denue was visibly distracted.

“I suppose,” Denue said to McCoy.

Denue was definitely in deep thought. The whole reason to be involved with the killing of Gretchen Bennett, her daughter Torsha, and Torsha’s husband Allison Jackson, was to ensure Denue’s ambition to secure the land held by Gretchen’s estate. If the Earth was indeed facing totally destruction, then the entire scheme was ruined.

Denue had been approached by Laas, an alien shape-shifter. The plan was for Denue to obtain custody of the estate, and grant Laas access to the secured area beneath the house that no one in the McCoy family knew about. Apparently, as Denue had been told by Laas, there was something of great value in the secret secured room. Denue would get the estate, and in exchange, Laas would get the object inside the room. But now, with Earth’s destruction a possible future, none of it mattered.

“Mr. Denue,” Jocelyn said with a smile, “you seem preoccupied. Can we help you?”

Denue could not tell them about the secret below; not yet at least.

"No, I am fine," Denue said. "I was just thinking about old times."

“I like this place,” young Joann said, “did you grow up here?”

“I did,” McCoy said with a warm smile. “In the summer, when it was so hot and muggy, mama would set us up a picnic table out front. We would…”

McCoy’s words were interrupted by a strange noise, and a flash of blue light from the other room.

Convergence

Leonard McCoy rushed out of the kitchen and into the main den. Jocelyn and Joanna followed directly behind him, with Lloyd Denue behind them. Leonard McCoy was shocked at what he saw as he came into the den; three people who he knew quite well; James T Kirk, Spock and Edith Keeler. And it was clear that where ever the three of them had been, they had been there for quite sometime. They all looked slightly older.

“Jim!” McCoy said as he rushed over to Kirk. “How in the hell did you get here?” McCoy asked.

Kirk ignored McCoy, and rushed over to Edith.

“Where’s Caroline?” Kirk asked.

“I couldn’t reach her,” Edith said as she began to sob. Kirk held her close. “She was on the chair, and I couldn’t…I couldn’t…” and then she broke down.

“Who is Caroline?” McCoy asked.

“Leonard,” Jocelyn said softly, “Maybe now is not the right time.” Jocelyn could see the pain in both Edith Keeler’s and Jim Kirk’s eyes.

McCoy turned his attention toward Spock, and walked over to the Vulcan, who no longer sported a goatee.

“Spock, where have you three been?” McCoy asked. “Who is Caroline?”

Spock was visibly upset by the loss of Caroline as well.

“The Captain, Edith Keeler, and I,” Spock began to explain, “lived the last five years of our lives in Earth’s past.”

“What?” McCoy asked. “Five years?”

“What time were you in?” Lloyd Denue asked.

“Actually,” Spock said as he looked around the room, “we spent most of that time in this house.” Spock looked over to Kirk who was still comforting Edith Keeler. “Caroline,” Spock said softly to McCoy, as well as Jocelyn, who had walked over to where McCoy stood, “was the Captain’s and Edith Keeler’s one year old daughter. Apparently, the Remnant properties that brought us back to this time did not bring the child.”

“Jim had a child?” McCoy asked with a smile, feeling happiness for his friend. Then McCoy’s smile vanished as the pain of losing the girl hit him as well.

“That child lived her life,” Jocelyn said, with sorrow in her voice, “and died nearly two hundred years ago.” A tear came to Jocelyn’s eyes.

“We have to go back,” Kirk finally said.

“Jim,” McCoy said to Kirk, (continued at this link)
