I read this awhile ago. It's fascinating how after failing to save Romulus, Spock opens a second black hole and goes back in time on purpose in this version.

I had read about this script and read about a few different things, but until now, I've never read about Spock opening a second black hole in order to escape. Also the Nero and Ayel dynamic was surprising.
That's the same thing I thought too. Maybe that's the new "this ain't your dad's old Star Trek" attitude now with these movies. The only thing I don't understand is why would "stage directions" be written into the script that way?? By the way, I don't know how much you're in to reading scripts, but I found an alternative script for Nemesis a few weeks ago too. Great read. Very interesting. Admiral Janeway would have much more screen time in that version too.
What do any of you care about the profanity? It's not like any of it showed up on the screen. You just got the big ass explosions and all the great HOLY SHIT moments that made you all piss your fuckin pants with glee and shout, "Jesus 'Tittyfucking" Christ!" at the screen. The profanity in the script was just a little extra hyperbole intended to get the effect across. Why not? It wasn't a novel, it was a screenplay. None of you were intended to read it in the first place.
^ Because it shows quite a level of immaturity and lack of professionalism on the part of the writers which, IMHO, does come across in the film. And you do nothing to help your argument by taking it a step further by moving beyond off-color language and into just plain vulgar and offensive remarks.
Or, perhaps they did it intentionally, because if someone had bootlegged this script online during filming (as did happen with "Generations", "First Contact", "Insurrection" and "Nemesis"), or even excerpts, many people would have dismissed it as not-the-real-deal.
On the other hand, I'm rather pleased to see Diane Duane's cthia get mentioned in there, albeit in passing.
The implication seems to be that Spock Prime only creates one black hole, a small one that he intends to go back in time with--as opposed to the bigger one he intended to fire into the supernova, which Nero's torpedo attack prevents him from doing. So Hobus supernova is never actually stopped in this version, and the TNG timeline ends in fire!
