wasn't directed at me, but I'll answer. I could, given enough time, and a team, do what they did, and I know others who would. They wouldn't though.Sure they did, they created the app. I bet you couldn't do that. They didn't create from scratch a lot of the visuals and shapes but the physics, collision detection, who knows what else was created by them. I would have expected a trek culture not be so discriminating about the idea of a free world.
Jesus Christ.
Just out of curiosity, why don't you?I don't associate products with their inventors or labor involved, most people don't. Like when I purchase cheap shoes from Wal-Mart that I find out later were made in sweatshop conditions, I don't think about it. Or animal rights when I eat a burger. I have seen documentary films about animal cruelty but I still eat meat anyway.
But if enough people do what you're talking about them they will end up in those conditions. The only reason they have the money they do is because the majority of people don't steal the stuff they're making.Less wrong than the destitute conditions you were describing in other examples.
. There's a big difference between technology making a job obsolete, and using technology to steal from people.Possibly, I'm still evaluating whether might makes right. Back in the day if the alternative to buying a book was to pull out a pencil and start copying, I'd rather buy the book. Or to get a song for free, wait for it to come up on the radio, I'd rather buy the album. Technology making jobs obsolete is a fact of life
"If Star Trek were free, there would be 10 or 11 Star Trek shows out there right now instead of just one"
Nope. If Star Trek were free, there would be no financial incentive to make one show, much less 10.
Just out of curiosity, why don't you?
I am very much aware of these things, and while I do continue to use them I always try to at least consider a bit what it took the get these things to me.
I still buy clothes that is most likely made in sweatshops, but that's because I don't have a ton money, and pretty much all of the clothes that is made here in the US is just to expensive for me.
I also still eat meat, but I do care about how badly the animals are treated, I just can't give up my meat. I have thought about trying to go vegetarian, but I'm just to much of a carnivore, and it just feels to limiting to me. I do feel a bit bad, and try to keep in mind what the animals went through for their meat to get to me.
Chuckle. Ok. If you aren't going to debate honestly, I'll move on....There's already been at least 11 made https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_fan_productions
It's called empathy. There's already been at least 11 made https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_fan_productions
I don't know. I was trying to research why I should care but I don't :-D bystander apathy maybe
Yeah except being disadvantaged in one career doesn't stop them from changing careers. Studies show that people change careers 3 to 7 times in their lives. It's called empathy.
They're really not.CBS/Paramount is caving their own grave a long time.
A lot of assumption in that post. More like CBS is protecting their property and any long term contracts they might have with video game companies.CBS/Paramount do not like that someone is able to do their job better than themselves. CBS/Paramount is caving their own grave a long time.
I see this claim quite a lot, but I've yet to see proof.CBS/Paramount do not like that someone is able to do their job better than themselves. CBS/Paramount is caving their own grave a long time.
CBS/Paramount do not like that someone is able to do their job better than themselves. CBS/Paramount is caving their own grave a long time.
Sarcasm...?My God - this is a tragedy! We should petition to bring this project back. They had no reason to squelch our free expression!
