ST5 - Unused Uniforms

I agree. Honestly, I was thinking it would be fun to utilize the Kelvin Universe Dress uniform Delta on the maroons design. I've been looking at those dress uniforms for other possible elements.

What's interesting to me is that the Captain version of that dress uniform delta is the same as the delta on Admiral Kirk's dress uniform in TMP. Only in silver rather than gold.

It is interesting and possibly due to the way those films use gold very much for flag officers.

If you compare the admiral's stripes and badges on the dress uniforms to the regular officers the admiral's delta is a gold version of the captain's one. So, I wonder if the design kind of reversed it's way from Kirk's Admiral's uniform from TMP, and used silver for regular crew and then made gold versions. Or tried out both colors.

That graphic isn't quite right. The Kelvin-timeline Admirals use a gold badge, but it doesn't have the star on it.

It has the raised border around the edge of the delta, like the regular crew badges, in addition to the circle. And no departmental symbol.

Compare that to the delta worn by captains:

And the ones worn by everybody else:

Captains get a circle, but everybody below Admiral gets a solid delta, no outline, with the department logo in the middle.

Nice. Good eye.

Scotty also wore one in TSFS, but pretty sure that was later in the film.

That’s right! For some reason I was thinking Scotty’s was just in The Voyage Home! I’ll turn in my obsessive costume nerd card

TVH is when Scotty starts wearing a white undershirt, for some reason. Maybe he didn't pack enough when they left Earth and had to raid Spock's closet.

Scotty also goes back to Commander insignia before going back to Captain in STV. Maybe he thought the promotion was contingent on moving to Excelsior but they let him keep it anyway.

Those jackets look a lot like those from THE CAGE…
