ST3 Reportedly Being Filmed in Vancouver in 2016

Aren't the actors already on record that filming starts in February or March?

Did they swear an oath when they said that? Plans change, beyond the actors' control. Not saying this rumor has any basis, but what they actors claim is rather meaningless.

The claim that Paramount released everyone "on standby" to work on ST3 is completely false; John Eaves announced on Facebook awhile ago that he and Ryan Church had begun work on the next Trek movie. Also, the claim that the new movie script was based on Planet of the Titans is extremely unlikely - the plot doesn't sound anything like the basis of an action movie Trek.

This guy has previously made some bizarre claims, like the Kelvin-derived ships in ST'09 and ID being artifacts of a previous cancelled TV series, despite concept art being readily available online detailing their design evolution.

Just for fun, though, here's more...

Abrams / Paramount paid CBS for a 10 year non compete for the exclusivity of his movies and the different look product copyright. They did so on the basis saying that it would be 20x more popular. The fact without trying that PRIME is selling 40 million and JJtrek is selling 1.5 million (comics and uniforms only) is they have cheap uniforms and comics and CBS is not pushing either. This whole experiment demanded that on merits JJTrek earn a TV series to continue before the 3rd movie else was game over. When CBS told JJ never in a million years would they do a JJTrek TV series as it was not commercially successful and no way to make up their product sales the experiment came to an end and was over.

Star Trek is the #5 best selling Bluray, ever. Right behind The Avengers. Not commercially successful? Into Darkness is #31 on all-time Bluray, and the #3 digital download of 2013 http://articles.latimes.com/2014/feb/14/entertainment/la-et-ct-2103-top-ten-digital-movies-20140214

Unless something major happens it is doubtful ST3 will be made as Paramount cannot budget it like Bad Robot wants, and Orci does not seem able to write a script they will accept. It also appears they do not want him to direct. So this has become a total impasse as the bottom line is it is not profitable and PRIME is and always was. It is so bad that JJtrek sellers are using PRIME images on their products as the new cast and ship do not sell... even before STID came out - Playmates canceled all products due to lack of sales and interest. My guess is Paramount may well time out the clock and do something different for the 50th, or just may let CBS carry it all and do the 2 new series and TV movies based on Prime and cut their potential loses. It is about business and STID and WWZ in the summer of 2013 almost destroyed Paramount.

Two new TV series, and TV movies based on Prime Trek? I bet one of them is Captain Worf.
The whole Nu Trek experiment mirrors exactly the New Coke experiment. Paramount lost control of Star Trek and only retained movie rights. Paramount came up with this alternative copyright idea to seize control of Star Trek back from CBS. They hired Bad Robot / JJ Abrams to do the experiment. (It is not the original it is a licensed franchise in legal terms) and tried to retake covertly control of the franchise. They may well have paid CBS 100 million or more for the non complete and copyright license. Is no way they made a profit on this. It was a good idea... but in the end it was a business failure. CBS walks away the winner and is back in the PRIME business. If the formula had worked Paramount and Bad Robot would have had a billion dollar product. But they did not take into account is more then just the product - it is brand loyalty and memories... and that is what sells the products... not action on the screen. History repeated itself. http://www.coca-colacompany.com/history/the-real-story-of-new-coke
Back in PRIME business! Because in-universe timelines and continuity are what CBS really cares about most of all, right?

Who exactly is the drooling gibbon spewing this drivel? And how swiftly will he crawl back into his basement when the first production photos leak onto the Internet from Vancouver? Sheesh.

I hope it's not delayed. A CBS TV project would be nice though. Hopefully there will be official word around Christmastime?

Does that group now have a section which is closed to non-members? I'm not finding this comment by Para Mobius or any of the subsequent ones you've quoted yesterday and today. Or am I just looking at the wrong FB group?

He'll probably just vanish and invent another pseudonym.

He claims CBS will officially announce new prime-verse Trek on January 1st, once their no-compete clause with Bad Robot (if there is such a thing) expires.

I see what I was doing. I was looking for a separate thread posted by Para Mobius and skipping over the one posted by startrekrcks/Lauren Pollock, when I should have been looking for his replies to that thread. He's something, isn't he?

Jan 1st? Just over a month to find out lol

Well we know Michael Dorn is waiting for the Captain Worf green light and Star Trek: Renegades film is in post and will be pitched as a pilot.

I still take all the Facebook stuff with a pinch of salt but it would be bad to have pretty much nothing in 2016, look at 2006!

When Bob Orci talked to CBS about doing a series, he had the blessing of JJ. That's because there are no secret deals of any kind that are preventing a series. CBS is just not interested.

Trekkies should pay attention instead of concocting hate theories. And they should have bought TNG.

Holy shit, Para Mobius was right. I guess I owe an apology. That guy has connections.

That being said, the aborted ST3 synopsis sounds nothing like Planet of the Titans. I guess if the rest is true, it means we have 2 new Trek series' coming from CBS, which is apparently staffed with frothing-at-the-mouth AbramsTrek haters.

Eh. I wouldn't count on it just yet. He may have had this one nugget of information correct, but that doesn't mean he didn't embellish it with wish fulfillment and nonsense. Wouldn't be the first time that kind of thing has happened.

Though I personally would be delighted if this were true. I'd love to see Trek back on TV (or a TV-like format) again.

I don't really get the sense that CBS is that interested in a new Trek series.

And if it does happen, I also don't know why a lot of the nuTrek haters believe that CBS is going to ride in on a white horse and "restore the Prime universe" - I'd bet on a clean reboot of the original series before a Prime-continuation show.

Exactly so.

OldTrek fans hope for the ridiculous, in regard to the future of the franchise, because otherwise they've got nothing.

I hope the project can be revived with a new experienced director.

The story sounds ok but as well as fans you have to cater to mainstream movie goers. The situation with Star Trek is weirdly reminiscent of Doctor Who - the last season is quite good following a lag; there is no series but a movie does well for itself; people want a series but the rights are tied up in movies.

Jj is making the movie franchise he grew up with now; so maybe Bad Robot could leave Star Trek? If CBS even want to do specials for the golden anniversary they should if the 13th movie can't be done in time.

Granted a film in 2016 would be nice. Hope Shats still in it (lol we did that in 2007/08 and again there was the 'will the classic Doctors be in it' for the Who 50th)

This is the most self-congratulatory post I have ever read. On any subject. Ever.

It is important you understand what you all experienced. I posted the details about Orci and the script on Oct 30th and waited to see if even one website would publish the story. Gave simple details that any investigative journalist could follow. Not 1 site did. The stories you all seen were the result of a Paramount release not anyone doing investigation, and quite a few sites know as people were asked and all verified info. No one risked releasing info that would put them at odds with Bad Robot. The problem is Star Trek and the big money the movies have spawned has made this become political. Let me explain so you fully understand. Gene in the day had schematics and diagrams for every device and ship. Abrams has none. In Star Trek: You pointed out a flaw to Gene and you got a thank you letter. You pointed out a flaw to Abrams or Orci you got a F you. More so everything in the Abramsverse is based on greed and a desire for profit. Everything is shrouded in deception. I do not think anyone involved in the equation even likes Star Trek. If you pushed them for answers to all the plot holes they would say Secret Borg Technology. They have split the fan based and been out strictly for profit. They have lied and abused the fans at every point. They have paid people in the groups to spread false info like they saved Star Trek. They have created a civil war with these exploits. If you have any doubt about what am saying let me give this clear example. Everyone now knows EVERYONE at Paramount and Bad Robot was aware Orci was canned in early Sept over the script. Rather then be honest Orci and JJ created the Shatner story and released it to the world to distract anyone from finding out the script was refused and Orci being told he was not going to direct.... if anyone doubts that JJ was equally involved and that this was a scam of epic proportions.... think of sending people to talk to some mayor in South Korea to make a fake press release, the mayor was so proud that ST3 would be filming there when Bad Robot knew was no script no budget, and St3 was not greenlighted and was no filming possible. Was no employees even available at Paramount to do filming when the dates were set. Everything you been reading has been deception. They are now caught for what they were doing. They have not even told the actors the truth and made them pawns to post fake information. Nimoy did not know why he had not received a phone call or a script. I am asking all Star Trek fans to join in the protest... to demand the studios from now on hire only people who will make a public oath to the fans to respect Gene and his vision and philosophy, to embrace science and logic... and always expand the franchise and add to it, and never create division or such deception and chaos again. This is the legacy that Gene wanted.... smart quality programing and to create a reality in this media that was intelligent and made people reach for and create a better future. This legacy should always be respected and a part of all future Star Trek. This is a value system that anyone who writes, directs or works in the franchise should swear a public oath to the fans to follow these values and not be about greed, or money - but about the love of Star Trek. Just like the guy who started the letter writing campaign... i am now looking to start a campaign of fans who demand the spirit of Gene Roddenberry be put back into Star Trek.

This made me lol:

Gene in the day had schematics and diagrams for every device and ship.

If that's the case, why is there still disagreement where the friggin engine room was on the orignal Enterprise?

And Rodenberry was the first to bail on Trek when he thought there was no more money or casting couch benefits available.
