See Tarkin in Rogue One for this approach, and while certainly better, still wasn't quite right. The lip movement is hard to get right, but it didn't bother me while watching. The best ones are when the body and head are already a pretty good match.
They didn't use "deep fake" tech for Rogue One though, of course. But yeah, our eyes and brains are so well trained as to what real people look like when they move, even the tiniest fraction of oddness is enough to give away the game. But they get closer every year.See Tarkin in Rogue One for this approach, and while certainly better, still wasn't quite right. Something with computers, I think.I can't deny it looks very impressive. How do they do it?
It's this.Or black magic.
it's new technology constantly being developed and improved. That's how I see itI'd say they're about halfway there
I agree with this. Spock/Nimoy was almost seamless. McCoy/Kelley was very good in most scenes. But for the majority of Kirk/Shatner, all I could see was Pine's face. Something not quite right there.Spock is near perfect
McCoy is quite good
Kirk better in some shots than others. Think Pine's head is slightly the wrong shape
This is not to everyone's tastes but I love it!
