Some of us don't cover everything, but we do try to stick to facts.
It's a journalist's job to both stick to the facts and cover all sides of a story. If someone wants to call themselves a reporter, that's the job.
And getting confirmation of a claim is the first thing you do. There's an old reporter adage, "If your mother said she loved you, you'd still get confirmation."
Journalists shouldn't take anyone's word on anything. We have to be naturally skeptical, we have to question. That's what makes us journalists.
If one of these so-called reporters or news sites can't be bother to do the very basic of reaching out to the other side ... well, then it's not reporting or a news site.
