Spoilers ST Strange New Worlds - Starships and Technology Season Four Discussion

After looking at some of my saved SNW Enterprise diagrams from the same extreme angle, I think Griffin looks like she's of similar proportions. Deck count and cross section details also seem to also line up, I think she's another Constitution.

Or maybe Sombra class, did we ever see a cross-section of the that ship? I can't remember if she was supposed to be smaller, or just had fewer crew.

When they showed the Enterprise towing the Peregrine at the end of the episode, they looked identical in shape and size (and I suspect the whole point of having a not-a-Constitution that looked like a Constitution was so they could reuse the cargo bay virtual set and other assets).

^^^ That and it's a sneaky way of allowing them to have more Connie-not-Connie's in-dialogue and on-screen without breaking the future-canonical "There are only 12 like it in the fleet" statement Kirk made to Capt. Christopher (pre-"Ultimate Computer", of course) of the class of vessel Enterprise belongs to.

Well... yeah, I guess the logical gyrations could be worked to fit that concept. Never thought of it like that, but yes, it could be interpreted that way.

If we're told that she's a different class and with NCC-1067, does that imply Constellation NCC-1017 might be of the same class?

If there are several outwardly identical starship classes that also reduces the unlikely odds that Enterprise just happened to encounter over half of her sister ships in TOS.

Now this is a theory I like! Perhaps the Sombras were test-bed Connies, experimenting with new propulsion and hull designs, but not entirely "complete", or being refit from older spaceframes, much like the E-nill was in TMP. I wonder if that's what they're angling for, with those lower registry numbers.

I have seen the preview images for this week's episode. It looks like the Griffin is going to be somewhat of a new design, a truncated version of the Enterprise with bulbous nacelles.

I know you mean the green diagram La'an is looking at, but you're making me think of this old chestnut.

And here's the picture of the apparent USS Griffin:

That same diagram was used for the Enterprise in Episode 1, it's not a different design. Looks like the diagram is either being stretched, or maybe the angle of the screen is distorting it.

Any comments about this Engineering Hull cross-section? Direction of the facing of the Engine Room is forward, so, do we assume the Engine Room in TOS is also this direction, too?

I think it was discussed when the full version was shown last season.

12 like it in the fleet after all these other ones have crashed or blown up

Interesting, in the close up image, the Torpedos and Phasers are in the wrong spots on the saucer, compared to the ship's exterior model (they've swapped places),

however they are correct in a cross section we see from further way.
Or at least the labels are correct, it's too far away to tell if the actual cutaway has been fixed.

Both also have torpedo launchers in the neck (or something that resembles it), when the external model does not have torpedo launchers in the neck.

NCC-1057?

Otherwise, we're confusing her with the Tikhov.

So this is the second time a registry for a previous ship in DSC was reused for a completely different ship (the first was the USS Giacconi NCC-316608 becoming the USS Miyazaki.) This can't be just a coincidence.
