So, I was wandering around the youtubes today after work when I stumbled upon this really cool trailer for Blood and Fire which I hadn't seen before.

Anyone know where this came from? Is it "official" from the P2 staff or is this something a fan put together? Very cool.
We actually put that together ourselves, but it's not one of our "official" trailers (although I'm not sure what constitutes official versus unofficial if we actually released it ourselves). So it's "unofficial from the
Phase II staff."
We put that out shortly after the trailer for J.J. Abrams
Star Trek came out and everyone was talking about how cool that looked. So we thought "Well, we could do "cool looking" rather than "
TOS looking," too. So, mostly as a joke and kind of on a lark, our "Blood and Fire" editor Brian Kelley slapped that goofly little edit together--just to put something together that looks "cool" and "current."
Of course, we've had people say "Well, that doesn't look very
TOS. What's gotten into
Phase II?" So just to calm everyone's fears, only the teaser looks cool. Our actual episode looks just as
TOS '60s dorky as always.
I used to know what Brian used as his source music. Sorry that I can't remember; maybe someone here recognizes it.
On our crew, our favorite moment in the trailer is the tight "boom-boom-boom" zoom in on Lieutenant Xon (played by Patrick Bell) right after Peter Kirk's line "He's not human: he's James T. Kirk." We all call this the "Xon xoom."
Also, you asked if this is something
Phase II put together or is it something a fan did? But this is just a reminder that
Phase II is just a bunch of fans. So, I understand your dichotomy, but it's one we try not to subscribe to.
We are fans too and we believe ourselves to be representing fans' interests.
