When Lorca reveals the purpose for the fungus in ep3 he puts her in this room and empty a canister of these spores in there with her.
He push the button "cycledestinations" on the spore drive console and immediately its as she is "transported" to all these different locations as the walls in that room seems to vanish and instead display different worlds.
It seems like the spores are a vital part of this visual effect.
So im wondering if this could be a secondary use for the spores when they fail as a "drive", they become discoverys new and better holodeck?
