*Spoilers* Why didn't we get Q?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
He made appearances on TNG, DS9 and VOY, so why not on ENT?

Did Brannon and Braga say they didn't want to include him to start a fresh?

I know he was first seen on TNG and some might say it was an effort to improve the timeline, but he could have easily done that trick where minds are wiped.

Why should Q show up everywhere? When he appeared on DS9 I thought it was ridiculous. OK, Q took an interest in Picard, but why should he appear to every captain in a Star Trek series? Are we to assume he shows up to every Starfleet captain? What about alien captains - did he have similar encounters with Tomalak and Gul Evek? What about the Gorn captain?

I would have loved Q to make an appearance on the show. It would have to be done right and in a way, that doesn't screw with continuity and allows the ENT cast to have absolutely no idea who they're dealing with.

Q clearly liked visting Earth and observing humans at different places in history. See Encounter At Farpoint and his liking to dress up. Anything from a 50's US Army Colonel or a drug controlled WWIII soldier. I loved all that riffing off The Squire of Gothos, poking fun at humankind preying on each other. So maybe have Archer and his command crew undergo survival training at some remote location in the world. It transpires Q is already there incognito, dressed like a MACO... masquerading as that General Casey we never actually saw. He could be continually trying to wipe the bird poop off his outfit, while behaving like a schoolkid taking a magnifiying glass to some ants... making Trip and Reed fight each other, moving the goal posts on various activites. Of course, by the end Archer figures out what's going on and kicks his ass... Beating a God at his own game, is probably the last one of those Kirkisms to check off his "I got there first" list.

I'm REALLY grateful that he didn't appear. It would have negatively affected Ent's "grounded in reality" and gritty image. I found 's Q's appearance on DS9 distracting as it took away from that show's "real world" feel.

Q was fine for TNG and especially Voy, but I continue to be thankful we never saw him turn up on the NX-01 bridge.

I would have loved him to turn up on ENT at least once. I doubt Archer would have got on very well with him, and it would have been fun to see Trip's reaction to the old devil.

I'm glad Q wasn't in any Enterprise shows. I think he made enough appearences in the other Startrek series.

You know what could have been funny? Q popping up at the very end of This Ain't The Valentine and demanding to know why Riker was impersonating him as Chef!

:rommie: Jinx I like that idea of Q asking Riker why he's a chef In This aint the valentine. He'd also make a sarcastic commenst about Riker spending way too much time on the holodeck.

I don't think it would work. Q had a great chemistry with Picard and Janeway, which I don't think he would have with Archer.

I liked Q in TNG. He was OK in DS9. Becoming friends with Janeway and not helping Voyager get home was messed up. With his appearance in each series getting worse and worse I'm glad he did not appear on Enterprise.

Or :guffaw:maybe Q was way too busy keeping his bratty son Q junior out of trouble/He found out his son was a troublemaker just like he is.

I don't think I could have handled both Daniels and Q in one series. The combination of Daniels' refusing to give a straight answer and Q's constant riddles probably would have made Archer's head explode.

Although . . . a Daniels/Q cage match to the death would probably be worth watching.

This show didn't need Q, and not just because that would break all kinds of continuity. The Q concept had been run into the ground well before TNG ended, and with the exception of "Death Wish," his appearances on the other Trek shows were absolutely stupid.

I asked this once before but got flamed.

As I said then I didn't think it made much sense. Q had no problems randomly showing up on TNG and Voyager and even DS9, he obviously was interested in Starfleet and he had the ability to drop in at any point.

Maybe if we got more than 3 and a half seasons he would have shown.

I'm glad they didn't. Q doesn't belong on Enterprise. If they wanted to continue with Q, they should of created a series beyond Voyager, then.

Q was not necessary in ENT.

In any story idea I can come up with that doesn't screw with continuity, he makes the crew looks more stupid than they already are.

We didn't get a Q episode in ENT because it could only have been silly. But a 10 second cameo of Q scowling in the background as Archer does something outstanding as a cadet would have been interesting. Even if for no other reason than to make experienced viewers s**t.

On the other hand, if the 5th season were to start off with Q doing a "just kidding" to the events TATV. It would be Ok by me.
