I tend to think it is the helm of the Franklin.
You are right. It is possible. The shuttlecraft's cockpit is different. But shuttlecraft cockpit in Star Trek 2009 was different too.

I am on the fence with this as it stands.
On the one hand it does has some attractive lines but looking too closely causes pain. I hope the pylons and the bridge dome/support area went though some further revisions. I wonder if the coloring represents Vulcan influence?

Maybe an older ship sold to private owners, but wouldn't that make it an S.S. designation as well?

I bet you are. You should have the mods add 'USS' to your user name until Beyond hits theaters!
Stick a secondary hull on there and you'd have something very close to the Ares.
Change your location to "USS Franklin" as well.
