(spoilers) look at the cute little...

Ain't it grand that the Doctor's COAT is even newsworthy? Sometimes you really jsut gotta love this show. :)

But we've seen that (so far anyway) the promos have shown the Doctor's existing wardrobe motif was staying the same for the first half of the coming season, no? Different jacket and tie (of the type we saw on SJA and A Christmas Carol), but the same general stuff. Maybe this coat is the "game changer" they've been hinting at. ;) Or, since it looks much like one of Matt Smith's own coats, perhaps this wasn't an actual take they were filming but a rehearsal?

Just because the same character appears in another story, it does not therefore follow that the second story is a "sequel" to the other. It's just another story with the same character. All that's necessary is to justify the inclusion of that character.

I think people are getting the idea that it's a sequel from Gareth Roberts recently saying that after he'd written The Lodger he had an idea for a sequel. That being said, I don't remember him saying that this episode was a sequel to The Lodger, so he may just have been stirring the pot a bit.

Even if the scifi plot didn't work so well, I still thought The Lodger was a really fun episode (and as far as returning characters go, I'll take Craig over the annoying Mickey or Jackie any day).

And I like the coat too. It fits his style, and is a bit ugly and dorky, just as it should be.

But he still manages to look gorgeous in it! :adore:
 You've got it bad!

I know. I usually don't crush on the young ones, but he's the exception to that rule. :luvlove:

Yes. But now they're the perfect size to me made into adorable toys. :adore:

Or remote controls. :)

Same here. The trailer shown after the Christmas special did show a shot of the TARDIS that was Craig's upstairs, maybe it's from that episode?

Cool!

Yes, the Cybermat is perfect for the marketing of fun little toys. Not sure about the coat, but I suppose a little change is a good thing.

Has anybody else looked at the Cybermat and thought..."Clever marketing!" I mean, the thing is totally made for the remote/radio controlled toy market. I know I'd get one just to terrorize my cats.

All my twin Scotties would have to do is glare at one of those and it would turn tail. :)

That said, I'd LOVE to test the theory with a RC version.

Aww, The Lodger was a fun show! And, if they bring back Sophie, they can make as many sequels to it as they want.

Exactly. Even Tom Baker had a few different coats, though the dark brown one met with a bad end.

This. Its silly to think he never changes his clothes. I hate to think how gamey Five and Six's clothes must have been after a few adventures.

Hell Pertwee wore a different colored coat nearly every story.

Well The Lodger was a nice enough story. Not sure I see the need for a sequel.

Ditto. How would a sequel build upon the original's story?
He still has the Doctor's memories I think. He'll probably see something on the news, recognize it as something the Doctor would get involved with it, and go there to say hi.

OT: What Goa'uld is that in your avatar, assuming it is a Goa'uld? I don't recognize that one at all.

Well, Moffat hinted that next season will see the apparent Tardis which was Craigs upstairs explained. Cant remember where, so its understandable that Craig will be in it, also to get a few more ratings.

Also, as said, Craig still has the Doctors memories, well, a brief random assortment i assume, not all. So he will probably see something or is drawn to something to do with the Doctor on some level.

Or maybe the Doctor needs to find Craig for some reason, not too sure what link the Cybermen will have though.

As we all said though, well some of us, i love the new jacket, its great that RTD started up the random changes again that havnt been there since the mid 80s, well, not as obvious. Becuase obviously one man cant wear the same stuff all the time, it also add a bit of realism aswel. Like the changes in tennants suit and under shirts etc, Smiths Eleven has had different shirts/braces/ties and now a jacket. Ecclestons didnt change much, although he did change his jumper. ;)

Isn't that just the same coat as we saw earlier? Looks to be - we didn't know how far down the "new" one we saw previously went, looks now that it's the same one, an outer coat like the one worn by guy he replaced, except somewhat more form-fitting and green.

Hopefully this'll just be an occassional coat for wearing outside, and not a full-time replacement for the perfect and already iconic (at least in my mind) tweed jacket.

Thats what I was thinking when I saw the pics. Maybe just a one time thing, like Bakers 'Talons of Weng Chiang' Holmes outfit.
