Hmmm...That's an ambiguous statement since Prime Lorca may not be that dead (potentially not as dead as the characters presume).
We as fans can assume Prime Lorca is dead -- that is, until he isn't.
As already pointed out, the novels have made it clear he's still alive.
I'm talking about the fan who just watches the show and gets their in-universe "reality" from what's shown on-screen.
Even ignoring the official novels (which many/most viewers of DSC do), a person watching DSC has no reason to be sure that Prime Lorca is really dead, but also won't count him as alive until it's on screen.

I would pay really good money to see this, but I'd want him to play the daughter of Regulorca and some Romulan lady admiral. Jason Issacs as a romulan drag queen would be fierce.
And that son goes onto become a Romulan general who -- 90 years later -- will spare the life of Enterprise-C Tasha Yar and become Sela's father.
