Spock's unfinished report (spoilers)

Dales

Captain
Captain
Towards the end of the film, Spock says he has an unfinished report that he ditched to attend Kirk's party.

I was wondering what the report was about but I am guessing it is based on two things.

1. The report about him resigning from Starfleet and going to new vulcan

2. The report on the recent mission with Krall

I wish the film has touched on it more. I didn't just like how spock's looks at the tos picture and just said yes, he wanted to head back out there. he should have evaluated more why he chose to stay in Starfleet and should have discussed it at full length with Kirk, Uhura or Bones.

I felt like the ending was rush and everything was too hinted and for this, it did not give the film much depth.

Zzzzzzzz...

Yeah but I did not see it that way especially for a guy like Spock who suppose to be this complex character .

the ending was oversimplified .

1. Spock looks at picture of TOS Cast

2. Spock then goes to party to be with girlfriend

3. Spock wants to head back out there.

The End.

I really wanted more, now I think about it, it has made me to appreciate Kirk's ending speech in Star Trek Into Darkness.

Spock is a private person. Always has been. Heck, his Captain didn't know that Spock's father was Vulcan Ambassador or that he was engaged. The above works for Spock as a character.

Sometimes a picture says more than a thousand words.

I felt the movie did a great job of showing how Spock was influenced by Ambassador Spock. Over the course of the classic series and the movies, we saw Nimoy/Spock grow into a character where he can show emotion when it became necessary (e.g. crying for V'Ger, showing remorse for the death of Peter Kirk, getting upset at Sybok, showing amusement when meeting Pine/Kirk). Nimoy/Spock became his own person; he wasn't 'trying' to be Vulcan or pushing himself to be what was assumed to be Vulcan.

Quinto/Spock seemed more at ease in Beyond. The death of his mentor (aka his older self, albeit from another universe) had him rethink his life and choices. I definitely think Beyond made Quinto/Spock 'complex' (in one film no less!) based on what we know of him in the 'other' universe and how he was portrayed in the previous films. Too, the haters of the films complain that these characters don't have any characterization -- I liked the first one, and I was one of those complainers! -- yet, I feel this gives us something for the next films to build on; we have to have something for the 4th and 5th, and possibly 6th film, right?

Yes, it seems our hopes that NuKirk and NuSpock were actually on a character arc towards their mature TOS selves came true (for the most part).
