Spock's Full Name

Benjamin. :D

He actually took that as an incognito name in the novel "Strangers From the Sky."

but we know that's not canon.

His full name is "Hercules Bartholomew Bouvier Spock."

What he meant to say when he was talking to Leila Kalomi was "You couldn't pronounce it with a straight face."

Spock and Leela...interesting thought. (Oh, I know you said "Leila", but you accused me of being Kegek once so screw ya! )

:vulcan: Damn, I resent that. I thought I was so insanely distinctive I could never be mistook for anyone else or vice versa... I think I'll drown in a sea of my own self-pity. Or narcissism, whichever pool is bigger.

And besides, I took Kegek Kringle before you took Kryton Kryngle, or before Kringle's Mom (an even more worrisome confusion, I'm afraid).

Anyway, I doubt this issue will come up at all, unless O&K want to include a gag which is also a wink at the fans (given Orci, not beyond the bounds of possibility). I'd consider Uhura's first name more likely to be established; probably - again, due to Orci - as Nyota.

Or perhaps not.

According to Geoffrey Mandel, it was "Xtmprszntwlfd".
:)

In one of the TOS-era books, perhaps Star Trek Letters I think... this is directly credited to Dorothy Fontana.

I no longer have materials from 20+ years ago, but I recall the suggested pronunciation in one of the fanon-Vulcan language books was:

"KKKHHHtuhmmm-puhrsssssss-zuhn-twool-fid" with the X, S and Z sounds all unlike English equivalents. Looks stupid though.

Hambly's S'chn T'gai (ssss-kkkhhhuhnnn [tg]eye) had a lot going for it. Made more sense as a family surname of sorts though.

Spock s'Sarek ss'Skon sss'Solkar always seemed good enough to me. Such names work well enough in Iceland, and they are filming there after all!

Is Spock's first name, seems dad had a weird scence of humor after all ;)

Carl Spock was created in a TOS caption contest from now long ago. The poster was the lamentedly missing, Shatmandu.

Here is the post.

Although it took Nerys Myk to make him cool.
