Spock Is Not In Control of His Balance

Well, let's hope he has one of those electronic arm bracelets for when he's fallen, and he can't get up.

"I'VE FALLEN! AND I CAN'T GET UP!!!"

Quinto: We visit [Spock] at a time when he’s not as in control of his balance, and there’s a lot of heartbreak in that.

So, are we talking about young Spock or old Spock? If it's old Spock, he could be suffering from Bendii Syndrome, as did his father. I hope that's not the case, though ... because that would certainly mean that he is dying in this movie.

IBS Spock.

Young Spock more then likely. Does this mean we'll get "CAPTAIN, VIEWER ON!" sort of deliveries?

There are a lot of fans who love the "Spock on Ritalin" delivery from The Cage where this hyperactive Science officer is running around yelling at everybody when enunciating declarative sentences.

Hard to believe that Majel Barret was Number One in that Ep. Lot of folks don't realize that she was supposed to be the XO in the Pilot.

A lot of fans will cheer if we get "1964" Spock back. Don't be surprised if JJ does this, given that this is supposed to be "early" Spock.

I'll be looking very closely to see where the sombrero shows up in the film, btw. I know it's wrapped, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it show up in the background as an easter egg hat tip to the fans.

"I AM IN CONTROL OF MY EMOTIONS!"

Except, of course, this is the 21st century, so it'll need to be updated.

"I AM IN FUCKING CONTROL OF MY GODDAMN EMOTIONS!"

Spock's role in The Cage reminds me of the Chief of the Boat role (played by George Dzundza) in Crimson Tide -- it's not the Captain or XO who gives the exact orders to the crewmen, it is the Chief of the Boat.

I'm sure it won't be this way, but I don't want to see the Spock equvialent of Data with an emotion chip.
Spock always battled his human side (at least before coming to terms with it in old age). Maybe the battles are just a bit more open in these early years.

Still, please, no "Data moments." In other words, in a tense moment on the bridge, while Spock is checking out his sensors at his station, I don't want him to discover something then all of a sudden break the silence by shouting, "HOLY, SHIT!"

Of course, shortly after joining the crew, McCoy ordered the mess hall to add certain "meds" to every serving of Plomeek soup....
