No it wasn't a new state has new boundaries, new names, which was not the case here...

This is ridiculous.
They stopped sending representation to Congress and drew up new Constitutions and recognized their dates of statehood in the CSA as their dates of statehood.
If Scotland were to break off from the UK and become a state within Norway it would be a new state.

I can recall at least a couple of small screen stories where future people went back to seminal moments in the second world war and are faced with the prospect of stopping it, or at least parts of it, thus saving millions of lives. They always wind up not making that change. I would like to see a situation where they can't resist saving lives, and to hell with the consequences.
But then you might not exist...we are all products of the past...and if you stopped the second world war, nazis might not be defeated but still exist, how would that be better...
