I enjoyed the movie but I think the setup and ending could've been handled better to have been a really solid movie all around. Instead, the more time that lingers the more things bother me.

Some of the "Marvel moments" were a bit much, the robot arm knocking over the death star, the admissions officer talking casually to Peter about coming to MIT after being flung over a bridge and having what one must imagine to be her life flashing before her eyes, you didn't say please and so on. Not that there's any single dealbreakers there but cumulatively they sometime suck the air out of the scene. I thought it was weird that there were suddenly no press copters presents at the big statue of liberty scene after being all over the movie.

The fun conceit of the multiversal characters goes a long way in salvaging the movie. I actually wasn't spoiled on the hero's appearances, while I wasn't too surprised by Garfield as that had been hinted and rumored I didn't expect Maguire necessarily so that was a pleasant surprise. Despite my negatives the movie was definitely worth seeing I just wish it didn't have those niggles to give me pause. I enjoyed seeing all those disparate elements brought back and interacting way more than I thought I would. It would be amazing to somehow see this movie with no notion whatsoever of the plot ahead of time.

Garfield's Spider-man was a little off compared to his description of himself. He quipped a lot for a bitter vigilant who stopped pulling his punches (aka killing his villians without hesitation?) and basically quit his life as Peter Parker.
I don't disagree with that but at the same time I really liked Garfield in this.

For the same reason Strange asked Peter incredulously, after casting the spell, "You didn't even think to appeal MIT's decision?" Peter's brilliant, but he also makes stupid decisions. He's not a big picture thinker.
True, but even with his arrogance what the hell was Strange thinking hastily casting a spell like that with the ramifications it has both if it works or is broken without hashing it out a little longer with Peter.

Or maybe they from multiverses where everything and everyone was exactly the same as the previous Sony franchises, except that Curt & Sandman did die. Differences like that are irrelevant. It's all magic and other dimensions. A wizard did it.

This is the one movie where that explanation is literally true!

I don't think anyone thinks the creators hate women, it's just that the women in those scenarios had no agency of their own, they were simply plot devices being used to move the guys' stories forward, with no thought given to them and their stories.

They were professional nerds, though. I'm sure a FEW of them hated women.

Rewatching the amazing Spider-Man movies I forgot how awesome Garfield’s Spider-Man was. No wonder he stole the movie in this.

I thought it was real good. It could have been a total mess with all the villains and the three Petes, but they managed to just about make it all work (maybe Sandman's motivation could have been expanded on and Lizard was basically just the "I want to turn people into dinosaurs" panel expanded into a character) and the emotional stuff really delivered. I liked that May was so important to the plot after basically doing nothing in Far From Home. Her death could have felt like it was all just down to Peter making terrible mistakes, but because she was the one pushing him to heal Norman she actually had agency and it wasn't a fridging. And bonus points for her saying the full "With Great there must also come great responisibility" quote because sometimes they miss that middle part out and it's important.

Willem Dafoe was great, he just picked up right where he left off (except for being older.) The part where he was crazy laughing as Pete was punching the shit out of him that was good.

Andrew Garfield was a lot more fun than Tobey and it was nice to see him getting to have a good time playing Peter in a good movie as he obviously loves the character.

I liked the Matt Murdock cameo as someone who enjoyed 66.67% of Daredevil, but I wonder if viewers who didn't know him were confused by him not appearing again after his one scene.

I'm sure everyone's already commented on how the ending removes the things people didn't like about the MCU Spider-Men movies (his connection to Tony Stark, being an Avenger, the advance technology including a literal killer drone network he has access too) and leaves him as just dirt poor Peter Parker in a (cool looking!) home made suit. I hope they don't undo this in the next movie by giving everyone their memories back. But then I also hope this isn't the last we see of Zendaya since she's great.

Yeah. Everything still happened, it’s just no one remembers who Peter is. They only remember Spider-Man

I just left the theater. 10/10 the best Spider-Man movie. Large part due to the continuity of Sony’s previous films, our 3 Spectacular Spider-Men, the MCU Spider-Man finally coming into his own and the Frightful Five! I’m still geeking out about the duel between two of Ditko’s characters. Strange vs Spidey!

I didn’t see May’s death coming and I was generally sad for this Peter. He lost Stark and now May. I was happy to see both Peter variants talk and provide guidance to MCU Peter in his time of need. Sad that TASM Peter never got better after Gwen but he didn’t quit either.

That final swing and that new suit were equally spectacular. Perfect way to end the movie. Give me more!

Pretty much sums up how I felt. Me and my wholefamily loved the movie!

Rewatching the amazing Spider-Man movies I forgot how awesome Garfield’s Spider-Man was. No wonder he stole the movie in this.

I personally, well despised might be too strong.... but definitely felt the ASM movies were simply Sony's capitalisitic way for making money, since they HAD to make SOME kind of Spiderman film to keep the rights. I also really hated how Garfield was directe in acting out the personality -- felt too negative/sarcastic

However, that said, i REALLY respect Garfield for taking all of it in stride and going along with all the jokes, like how he loves the other SPideys, but he gets no love back. And the disappointment that Electro thought Sidey wa sblack (a nice Miles Morales shout out), and Garfield saying "Sorry".

But his MJ moment was awesome, and really felt for him

While i still don't like the ASM movies, i sure would LOVE to see Garfield back again in some way. And while I knew he was a great actor (such as the WW2 film where he was a pacificst), this movie definitely redeemed him for me, and gives me a whle lot more respect for him.

Part of me wonders if the initial plan was to have Keaton back as the Vulture and/or Michael Mando back as The Scorpion since that seems to be something Homecoming was setting up. Maybe once the idea that this would be a multiverse thing was floated and the focus shifted to the previous franchise's characters it didn't make sense to include him anymore.

Either way, that thread appears to have been cut since unless something else happens; Toomes is back to having no clue who Spider-Man is, and just like the rest of the universe, has no memory of, nor even heard of Peter Parker. Which is a shame, because I always thought the idea of bringing Liz back somewhere down the line as a version of Black Cat has some potential. I guess they can still do that since she's still the child of a convicted thief who's fallen on hard times and suddenly found her once promising future ruined thanks to that jerk Spider-Man.
And if they want to be really cheeky about it, maybe she now goes by her middle name 'Felicia' and her mother's maiden name 'Hardy' (yes I'm making this up!) because if your dad is a notorious super-criminal, you'd probably change your name too.

The interesting possibilities in such a storyline of course stemming from the fact that she might understandably hate Spider-Man, while having no memory of Peter. While Peter very much would remember her, and while there certainly would no longer being any adolescent romantic feelings for her, he'd still care about her as one would any former friend/old flame, and (Peter being Peter) feel deeply responsible for her situation if she's ended up following in her father's footsteps.

Plus of course the MCU has been rather light on female antagonists, so that alone for me makes Black Cat (in whatever form) the preferable next choice for a Spider-Man movie. Hell, have her work for Fisk so they have the plit be about her getting out from under him, and setting her up for her own solo anti-hero movie/Disney+ show!

I would argue that they did fill that sixth spot, it's just that Venom didn't bother to show up because while all the others were already in New York when they were yoinked across the multiverse and already had a reason to go after Spider-Man; Eddie/Venom were on the lamb down in Mexico and weren't in any big hurry, so spent the whole time getting drunk and arguing with themselves about whether it was a good idea to go skinny dipping.

Wow...some cretaive thoughts...hope they cme true...and i nominate you to be a part of the creative team for the next sequels !

He’s just a very laid back guy.

Maybe I should say his Parker is a very laid back
or maybe you should say "laid up on his back" guy :) Loved that inside joke about Maguire's back injuries (did Garfield have it too? I didn't hear it as much as Maguire's).

By the way, the SPiderman we saw on screen might have been helped a lot by TOny, but he was a penniless nobody during the 6 months prior to the movies, so this was more of a "restart" for him.

Not sure how they will resolve this...i assume that Multiverse of Madness will "iron out" the flaws of logic that people know SPiderman but not Peter. I really hope they have planned this out better than DC TV's Crisis, which like the comic Crisis, it seems like that managaement didn't think about long term effects.

By the way, did i miss the comments here where FLash Thompson's book is called "Flashpoint". . DOn't know if we heard "crisis", but nice easter egg to a similar reality shattering comic event.

this was a fun movie! i dont understand anyone rating it "C" . (We agree on SOME things @TREK_GOD_1 , but definitely not this)

The only issue I had with the “save them” thing was that we never saw what they did had any affect in their respective universes. For all we know, they went back to the place they left and still died.
I'm sure we'll see something more about all this in: Doctor Strange The Multiverse of Madness.

Yeah. Everything still happened, it’s just no one remembers who Peter is. They only remember Spider-Man
Well I'm sure they're gonna figure it out when they look at Flash's book, or log onto any website, or see some old newspapers, or magazines, or all the stuff with Peter Parker's face plastered all over it  This will have been mentioned before in this thread I'm sure, but just saying. It's just movie logic you have to go by I guess, with how the spell worked.

Also during the time he was public enemy number one despite no evidence, I like how we see none of the Avengers came out to defend him. Like Sam Wilson "I'm the new Captain America and I know this kid and he'd never do anything like that and we literally both helped save the world"
But again, I know it's just a movie.

One thing that occurred to me was that when Toby and Andrew were discussing back problems, it would’ve been funny if they’d shown Toby a clip of Mysterio and had him make some comment about him looking familiar or for the others to say that Quentin Beck looked just like Toby-Peter (given that Jake was supposedly lined up to replace Toby for SM2). Yes, might’ve been straining credulity and the fourth wall, but I would’ve sniggered.

This spell is more incidious and hard working than first thought.

All that YouTube, and newspaper copy.

People are always forgetting about Peter as they rewatch the YouTube reveal over and over and over.

Autoplay algorithm?

So Peter still has a social security number, it's just that clerks forget about the paperwork they are collating, as soon as they associate the name and his identity.

Landlords forget that he owes rent, but they also forget that he's living where ever he is living, and rent his home out to other New Yorkers.

Pete just needs a new Civilian identity.

Peter Porker?

I don't think people will forget Peter after the spell, they just don't remember anything that happened with him before it. So MJ will remember talking to him at the diner where she worked, but he will just be some guy who acted kinda weird when he came in to get coffee.

It's kind of sad that Ned will now remember having no friends at school (until befriending M.J. somehow.)

Since we were having spider-men from various universes, i felt that a Japanese spider-man from another universe would have added a nice touch to the movie.

They really need to bring the emissary from hell into the MCU. I thought for sure when that D+ documentary covered him they were going to be doing something with him.

Should have had Garfield and Maguire see Jameson and say that he’s the same in their respective universes.
