Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

There will probably be a break after this trilogy. Then Marvel/Disney will make a concerted enough to try and get the rights so they can do films in their universe.

Man, I keep going back and forth on this costume. I liked it at first, then hated some of the other pics that came out... and now I actually think it looks cool again.

And I know I'm alone here, but I think the dark eyes look kind of badass.

"Midtown Science High School"? You're lucky to find a public high school with a half-way decent science program, let alone one dedicated to science entirely...

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Perhaps Norman Osbourne is funding the science department. We won't see Norman but we could get a small line.

Peter-The new Osbourne microscopes are in!

So they're really going with a teen Spidey this time around? I figured with Garfield and Stone being in their 20s (Garfield pushing 30) they'd go for University level Spidey right off the bat.

It was rumored early on that the story would feature Peter Parker in high school. Then it was rumored that he would actually be a freshmen in College....obviously now we're in high school. As for the sign...who knows the context of it.

Funny, because he only met Gwen in University. In High school he went out with Betty Brant.

So I finally got around to seeing '500 Days of Summer' last night... and my views on this new Spider-Man movie did a complete 180.

'500 Days' was pretty much "Peter Parker: the movie", albeit slightly more hipster-ish 20s than HS, but still. A really fun and creative film... I enjoyed it, and I loved how it captured the "feel" of NYC at times too.

As long as Webb can do a solid job on the action hero sequences, my anticipation for this movie just shot wayyy up.

^ Yes!!! This is why I was thrilled when it was announced that Webb would be directing the reboot. "500 Days of Summer" has been one of my favorite films of the last few years and I thought to myself that Joseph Gordon Levitt would have made a wonderful Peter Parker had they decided to go for a college age Peter Parker.

Not entirely connected to the new movie but JK Simmons, J. Jonah Jameson in the last trilogy, talks about the decision not to continue with that series and the fact that he's voicing JJJ in an animated series. The Judi Dench/ M comparison, often raised in this thread, is also mentioned:

CS: Now, I know a lot of people were kind of disappointed to hear you weren't going to be returning as J. Jonah in the new "Spider-Man."
Simmons:
Well, I certainly was. I was at Sam's birthday party, and we were talking about story ideas for J.J.J., and then six weeks later, they pulled the rug out from under all of us. So, yeah, I wish the new people all the best with it, but I sorta felt like those films were iconic, and Sam was such a great director for that--I'm finding myself using the word franchise, which I hate-- but it was a big disappointment that we weren't going to get to play again because those were just really, really fun.

CS: I always felt that your J.J.J. would be like Maggie Smith playing M in "Casino Royale," because you can't really have anyone else play J. Jonah Jameson. You're loyal to Sam so you wouldn't do another movie if they wanted to have you come back? I don't think they have J. Jonah in this new movie at all, as far as I know. I'm not sure, though.
Simmons:
That's what I heard recently, too; they just decided not to have the character be in the movie. Obviously it's going to be a very different take on it. I hope it does - I'm not sure what I hope. (Laughs) I just know that the movies that Sam made, especially the first two... strangely he was sort of less on his own in the third film and it kinda felt like there were a lot of cooks stirring the pot in that third film.

CS: I've heard that happens a lot. I've spoken with directors doing the third film in a series where the first film you're doing your thing, the second film, there's more people involved, and by the third film, you literally have every single person at the studio in the room throwing out ideas, which is crazy.
Simmons:
Everybody's looking for their share of the credit. I think Sam's gonna be okay.

CS: I think so too. I heard you're voicing the character in the upcoming "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated show, right?
Simmons:
Yeah, I just started doing that. I don't know when the show's gonna be out, but yeah, J.J.J. lives on in my career at least (Laughs) for a while with the new cartoon show, yeah.
