Well it appears the rumors are true...Brand New Day will be ending in Oct. Here is an interview with the writers from CBR. The panel is still going on and I'm having trouble with Newsarama right now so anyone want to report what was said on the panel feel free to post in this thread. Rao help me I'm actually a little excited about what they've got planned and about the Osborn Prison book.

Interesting. Doesn't sound like they're doing anything about the devil deal, but I'll be interested to see the finale and the reboot.

They mentioned that Mephsito will be appearing in ASM but didn't state what issue or what he would be doing in. The Black and Green costume is interesting as is Arana's new costume. It seems Peter (this is just pure speculation from me since I've not followed Arana since she was first created) will be taking a mentoring role with her? It was also mentioned that May Parker could return if sales were high enough which was an intriguing comment. Outstanding banner also created to go with the Avengers crossover banner from Saturday.

They're not ending the BND direction of the book, only the 3 times a month schedule and rotating creative teams. Dan Slott is taking over as sole writer of the book on a twice a month schedule.

Big Time is what the next phase of BND is being called but yes the events that caused BND won't be changed. That wasn't what was said nor what I reported.

Thanks for clarifying that. So the new reality/status quo is still in place, but the format and authorship are changing. Also, from what I read, the current story arcs will be coming to a resolution, and the Slott-only version of the title will begin a new storyline.

^Precisely. Unless Mephisto's appearance does somehow change things which I doubt it will that's exactly what is going to happen.

So ASM is going to twice a month now. Don't see how that will help. Last I looked on the Marvel boards the books was selling, per issue, around 60K. So times 3 it still wasn't doing as well as when the satellite books existed. Unless the return of Kraven story really boosted sales and those people hang around I only see twice a month exposing even further the decline in Spidey's BND direction.

Did you read O.M.I.T., god that was horrid.

I dropped of Spider-Man, not because I disliked the book, but the 3 times a month schedule just got overwhelming. Eventually I'll pick up the collections of what I missed. The drop to twice a month might get me to look into the monthly again.

OMIT holds little interest to me because, honestly, I could not care less about the why's and whatfor's of Peter and MJ's non-marriage. They un-did the marriage and unless they are planning on undoing the undoing they should just move on and stop referencing it. People are never going to entirely accept the new continuity if they keep teasing the old.

Plus Quesada's a crap writer.

I'm backing up to this part of the announcement.

Marvel, May Parker is the sole reason the MC2 Universe exists. When that experiment collapsed Spider-Girl was the sole title making it to issue #100 before being relaunced and is the man draw for your anthology title Web of Spiderman.

Having baby May return in a BND era Spidey only means more retconning. They would then have to devise a means of MJ being preggers and gone for long periods of time. Then explain in a somehow non-douche way of MJ justifying not telling Peter about the baby. Sorry, nothing even in O.M.I.T. helps that make sense.

The sooner OMD/BND is undone the sooner Spidey can be put back on track. Hell the next Spidey series, due to casting, is going to focus on a college bound Spidey.

^ That's pretty much how I feel...they can choose to say that Spider-Man has been "better" since OMD and BND happened but I still don't see how you couldn't tell the basic concept of most of their stories with Peter and MJ still being married. The only thing you probably couldn't do is the women trouble unless you wanted to make Peter a douche by having him cheat on MJ and I wouldn't have put that past Joe Q.
