SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboot in

Re: SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboo

Eisenberg is 26 or 27, I think. A little too old to play a high school student, but hey, that hasn't stopped Hollywood before.

I don't know about this reboot I don't think this will work a Spiderman reboot

Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

What do you think of the recent news that Spiderman is going back to High School with a new lead star, new director and a new script this just doesn't seem right to me:confused:

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

I liked Spidey 1 & 2, but 3 was kinda ''meh'' I really don't care what they do as I'm not invested that much in this franchise.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

It seems a little soon to give us the origin again, I would prefer they take the batm route (though with better results obv) or the hulk route (replace the cast, give us a quick mental reminder about the origin, especially if you've changed anything and then carry on.) They don't have to comment on any of the old movies and you don't have to contradict them.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

I would've rather seen Sam Raimi get to keep telling the story his way without studio interference, but with something this big, with so much money at stake, that's pretty much dreaming. Given that Raimi has walked away, I think it's better to start fresh rather than try to continue his version of the Spidey universe in someone else's hands.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

It's an idea put forward by people who are not bright, for stupid reasons. That does not mean that it will not succeed.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

but what kind of reboot will Spiderman take will it be about how the teenage Peter Parker deals with teenage problems

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

I feel like they have made a bad decision Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi

The ones making the bad decision are Sony, for not trusting in Raimi's judgment and being obstinate enough to drive him and Maguire away from the production. Do you think it would've been a better decision for Raimi to compromise his creative integrity and let the studio dictate the story to him? That's what happened with Spider-Man 3, and look how that turned out.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

I don't think any reasonable director is going to take over this project knowing full well that the studio will insist they have three villains, two love interests, and teenage angst.

Two words: Brett Ratner.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

I thought the first Spider man movie was horrible and this only sounds worst.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

I fear that the reboot will give us a Twilightesque Spidey with emo hair and brooding teary eyes and more angst than he already had. Blech.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

quick pass me a bucket if is turned into Twilight like I want the reboot to feel like Spiderman to what the films were like

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

Here's a crazy notion: Why not wait and see what they actually do before judging it?

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

Ok but I am a big fan of the previous films so I just want to know how the reboot would turn out.

The highest grossing movie of the series!

I've seen the movies only once (maybe spidey 1 a couple of times). I don't see quite why 3 is reviled as much as it is - some people hate emo spidey and others moan about Venom and Sandman and others complain about the song and dance.

I think it's possible that Raimi had decided that for 4 he will not brook any interference. After all he's created 3 very successful movies for Sony. (Or because he didn't like 3 the finished product or the experience of making it with the interference from the TPTBs etc.) And Sony said they are not going to be beholden to a prima-donna director while they are sitting on a cash-cow of the magnitude of Spider-man.

Just being contrarian, actually. I don't particularly care either way - I liked all 3 movies and would have liked 4 and will probably enjoy a reboot too for that matter.

I wonder if they just take the Ultimate Spidey and use that storyline to create the movies now. Except for Ultimatum (which people tended not to like and I haven't as yet read it) I think the Ultimate universe was fun especially wrt to Spidey.

Re: Spiderman reboot is this a good idea

Venom was crammed into a movie that didn't have room for him, but Harry having amnesia, placing Sandman into Spider-Man 1 and that crappy resolution between Sandman and Peter weren't because of Venom.
