Keeping in mind that angsty, wisecracking, high-school superheroics is the character as originally created... I'm holding off on saying train wreck. I mean, the series Spectacular Spider Man is still on as far as I know and it's doing that concept pretty damn well.
That said, there is a huge potential for Twilightization here... and if that is the way they go, then this is indeed going to be a train wreck of epic proportions.

Now McGuire can move onto the Robotech film, hopefully in the reboot The Lizard can finally get first crack at being the villain

I hope it's a 'soft' reboot like they did with Hulk and Punisher. We don't need to see the origin in detail, nor any of the villains from the first three, so soon after having already done so. I don't see why they couldn't just pick up from where they left off with a new cast.

I'm honestly not looking forward to seeing a new Doc-Oct.
But even the soft reboots of Hulk & Punisher didn't pack enough butts into movie seats. All these remakes & reboots and none of them are really paying off beside what, nuBSG on TV? You'd think studios would wake up and see that crap doesn't work.

If memory serves it's because Superman movies tend to be the same thing we're seeing with this movie, everyone involved creativly wants to do something different then the studio want to do.
One would think, but Studios tend to make decisions purely on what will make (they think) money, not what could be good and call in a larger audience as time goes on. They want it the first time around.

Alright, that's mainly for Warcraft, but The Given Day doesn't sound too bad. Either way, the less projects on Raimi's plate the sooner Azeroth goes cinematic.
